LIFE CAN BE SO NICE - again. www.funkmusician.com/sonice.mp3
Done this week. I'm going back in to redo the: - bass - vocals - suckage and I think I'm going to add about 10 more vocals in there to just pimpify the backend of the thing. for comparison, here's the earlier version I did: www.funkmusician.com/notSoNice.mp3 Thoughts? As always, I'm guessing that this will sound bottom-heavy when I get into work tomorrow, but it sounds nice and tight right now. (note to self, don't pimp the song until I've listened to it in a lot of places.) The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Great cover, you really make it your own man! But I don't know if I like this take better than the "not so nice" one, I think I like the "wild" part in the old version better (with the cowbells more upfront). The new recording seems a little more balanced though concerning the sound. [Edited 1/3/05 2:29am] RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

[Edited 1/3/05 2:29am] Yeah - there's more chaos in the older version, and this version sounds less live. I always seem to do that somehow - the first demo is rough but sounds kickass, the second try is much cleaner and clearer, but is also more sterile. SIGH. Yeh, slower Tempo than the earlier version. More 'deliberate'. Some great guitar licks, more drama preceding ( @ 2.30) and during the 'cowbell' section. (3.00 ) I think that's the better piece of the track in comparison to the previous. Obviously you lost it with the 'squealing ' nearing the end .[just my opinion]
Listening as I write . Better each listen. Actually Real nice from the beginning till 3.30-3.50 , the vocals kinda get too wild. [ JMO] Now that i've picked it to pieces, I like the new version a lot. Plus your 1st one is so good, hard to recapture that spontaneous feel. I wonder if best to leave this ; V2 , and have another go at a V3 , just to keep looking for freshness, rather than getting over analytical with each track. How many have you got to play with ? 8 ; 16 ? Kickass as usual anyhow . I enjoy listening to your stuff. Your recordings are professional rather than demo. Thanks for sharing, have fun and don't put too much pressure on yourself. ~PClinuxOS~ I've been here longer than I care to remember, ... I drop in from time to time, ...

Personally, I say put all the effort of 'modification' in2 another track altogether.
I love the 1st version because of its spontaneouty and U can almost 'hear' the vibe and feel. This version as good as it is (I expect no less from the Beau Hall camp) although I think that the energy used on modifications to eradicate 'suckage' could be put into something different maybe another cover!) 'dre Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!

2nd version is good but the first kicks ass!!!
I've always loved the first version. I play it everywhere, the car, NewPowerRadio and at the club when I spin. Plus I usually send it to my friends. I like your version WAY better than Prince's.
