Creative Wave Studio

Does anybody use the Creative Labs Wave Studio for mastering their stuff?

Mine has demo versions of effects (compression, eq, reverb, etc.) but I can't figure out how to upgrade. Has something to do with Directx or Sonic Foundry (which was aquired by Sony. I have their "Acid Loops" on my computer). I've searched around online but can't find it.

Heavenly

My feelings towards Creative are not so good. I've bought 2 of their soundcards since I started using computers for music, and both sucked big time. well, the first was a cheap one, but the second one cost quite a lot.

For mastering I use Wavelab, with plugins from Waves. I don't see any reason for mastering though unless you have completed your album, or sending singles to the radio and would like to make sure the volume is high enough.
Mastering at home is not recommended. Mastering studios have equipment that usually cost more than recording studios. Just for the reason that this is the last stage, and you HAVE TO make sure it is going to sound good. At home you have no way of verifying that.

Thanks for the info. I had been thinking about getting my stuff professionally mastered. I have been wondering how much of a difference it makes vs. the cost. I suppose if you're gonna get it manufactured, you might as well get it mastered.

Know anything about discmakers? Good? Rip off?
