oh, I dunno, POLICE meets LIVING COLOUR OH HELL YES my new toy arrived today. And while this doesn't use 16 tracks, I just put this together to get my learn on with the doodad.
EDIT: put the new version up here. Edit2: getting weak and bowing to the will of the people and putting the first version back up here, (yaaawn). DANG it's fun and cool. Lyrically, it's about AIDS, but, music-wise, it's just a bouncy happy jam. I'm really digging the clean guitar in the middle being abused by the heavy guits on each side... mirrored by the vocals as well. Man I need sleep!! I just got the new recorder. Instead of fiddling with writing a new song to record, I just dug into the book of oldies from wayback in '89 and threw this together.
MAN I dig the recorder so far. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

MAN I dig the recorder so far. Ok, give it up. What's the difference between this one and the other one?? Huh?? Huh?? I wanna know!! So far, just 6 more tracks. But the features are awesome - I just haven't had much chance to mess with it yet. Well, MORE. More everything - effects, drumkits, (designable - you build your kit from their sounds). More. More stuff. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Still have the same mastering settings, etc.?

O.k. another track that kicks.
The beginning sounds more Metallica musically , yeh living colour where wild . Mix: Drums 2 up, the tom is aahtomic, dunno if that's how you wanted them? None of your tracks stream. I think i've got way too many otan songs on ye olde HDD. Whatever, I enjoy listening to 'em is it. One more to play to the kids. The neighbourhood are starting to say, "oh, you got another otan song !". Cool. ~PClinuxOS~ I've been here longer than I care to remember, ... I drop in from time to time, ...

is that drumsound from the machine? (awesome...) Yup. It's the "reggae 1" drum kit. I like the snare and bass drum, hate the open hi-hat, (sounds like air escaping from a food processor). The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Reminds me a bit of Fishbone. I like the tune quite a bit. The guitars sound un-natural to me. Is that the POD? I have heard other tones from you that are much more amp like even though I believe you record direct. I would love to hear this with some real tubes cookin.. Outside of that the track is very cool. Turn that damn gitarr down!! http://www.soundclick.com/kevinschafer

I'm using the cruddy Zoom amp modeller on these- I was more interested in messing with the vocal stuff and just wanted to get the guitars thrown in. I'll go back and mess with the guitar tones later. Thanks for the review. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

I doubt you'll be hearing any reggae from me. You're more likely to hear opera before I touch reggae. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

POLICE meets LIVING COLOUR: that's a very accurate typecasting of this cool track. The guitars should be louder/ rawer I think, and please get rid of the "Cher" vocoder sound at the ending, that has been way overused the last few years IMO. RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

well of COURSE it's been overused! That's the beauty to my music style.
I take something that's been driven like roadkill into the ground, and after everybody's moved over to some other style, I pry it's flattened carcass up off of the pavement, and say, "hey yall! what about this!!" I was wearing M.C.Hammer pants in '93!! I had a mullet in '96! I wore flannel in '99! And I'm DOING THE PITCH CORRECTION IN 2004!! okay okay. I'll change it back you whiners. The first one has a more unique sound to me -- it feels soft and hard at the same time.
the second one has more energy though, but I think i like the first one a little better
