Holy smoke this is badass and I'm only at 55 seconds.

BOOO! TERRIBLE ending. Horrible.

First of all, you should have continued grooving for another 4 minutes. Secondly, you should have finished with a single note soaring high with the delay set on 4 seconds, infinite feedback.

Cool groove and awesome guitar playing!
It sounds like could have been a part of the Under The Cherry Moon soundtrack. Should be great to hear live too.
Maybe it would be cool too if you would let the drum start to play a more downright groove from about halfway to increase tension. Maybe together with some badass bass groove. Just an idea...

Freaky! I couldnt have produced nothing like this at all or had the brain to conjure it up with. Very very experimental and strange. MD..what is the meaning of this song!!?? Wooh..some strange twists going on there!

In the Early 70's ; (60's / 50's ) there was a Jazz Rock / Fusion Genre of music, where the old time jazz roots , of the more esoteric style was 'played' with the newer electric sounds of the day.
There is heaps of experimental music , or Avante Garde; (radically new or original; any creative group active in the innovation and application of new concepts and techniques in a given field (especially in the arts). In England there was a wave also of bands like King crimson, and mutations & crossing over of the players into similar bands in both countries.That's not to suggest the Audience copied anyof this , but that is the style / genre I feel this track comes .
Sorry about all that. On the weekend i pulled out my old turntable and got it spinning, ( needed to put a belt on the platter), and listened to alot of old records. Was fun ! So i'm still in the 70's at the moment.
tA is that (prob. misspelt), the myxilodian scale your playing with on this track ? Inspirational; and reminisant of F.Zappa , George Duke, Stanley Clarke, Al de Mieola,(etc.) and all that! Had another listen, and think it's a great piece.
I'm not recording again till next year, , but everyone's music in this forum is keeping my ear tuned and primed 4 the future.

this would be a great theme for a new cool detective/super hero tv show. A cool guy who hangs out in clubs that play live music and he el-kabongs the wack players, non-players and rappers.

If you're referring to the solo, i've got no clue.
Although i'm aware of the mixolydian mode (start on the 5th tone of the major scale), I don't think in those terms when soloing.
Regarding the melody line, it's just something that came to me and I was lucky enough to be able to play via the keyboard into the sequencer before I forgot it.



A quick RTF story...

When I lived in Florida a few members of the band I played with drove from Tallahassee to Gainesville to see a free concert featuring RTF and Larry Coryell's Eleventh House. After RTF performed we were able to get backstage and talk with them. It turns out they were coming to Tallahassee for a paid performance the next night. We mentioned that we'd be playing at a local club and if they had time to come by.

They said that they would! Yeah right.

The next night during our 2nd set, we played a Stanley Clarke tune called Power. Midway through the tune I noticed that the bassline had gotten rather shakey. Looked over at our bass player (You may have seen him in the movie Philadelphia. He's the wheelchair guy in the elavator the tells the lawyer joke) and he's just pouring down sweat. He nods his head toward the entrance to the club. There in the doorway stands Stanley Clarke, Lenny White and Al Dimeola. Stanley is beaming like he's just seen his 1st born.

Needless to say the rest of the rhythm section was more than a little shakey from that point on.

I'd been exclusively listening to quite a bit of Miles Davis a day before the idea came, hence the working title "MD".

Wowzer Man !; the RTF story ! Your a bit of a dark horse, sorry, i mean you've got quite a history . As i think i said , spun some vinyl over the weekend and fell back into the Jazz rock / fusion days.( Carlos Santana, also a part of this scene termed it, "Bringing it all back home".Tequila and Pot statement i think... ) Good old Carlos, he was so good back in the day

I can't imagine how exciting having been around these dudes would have been , hey thanks for your reflections, really interesting !
Back in those days Australia never had any one tour who was of interest to me.
I saw Carlos in '76 , and i think it really influenced me as far as following what he did. Plus all these guy's seemed to cross over into each others bands; each person mentioned except 'Al De', were in Santana at one time which lead me into the other bands around this amazing period in music. To have the players you spoke of around & accessible would have been sooo cool.
