Time to upgrade the Studio. As some of you know, I've been a Zoom MRS fanatic for 2 years now... to the point that I forced artist08 to go buy one.
Well, it's time to move on up. I've been looking at all sorts of recorders - 16-24 tracks, checking out the Tascams and Rolands and Yamahas, and THEN, this morning, I bothered to check and see what Zoom had to offer (don't know why i didn't go there first). LOOKS LIKE DADDY'S GONNA HAVE A GOOD CHRISTMAS http://emusician.com/news...unces_mrs/ This $800 motherlode has coolio things like: - 8-track simultaneous record - reverse a track - time-stretch without changing the pitch - Pitch Fix, so I can sound like Cher and Kid Rock - creates a 3-part harmony to match the programmed chord and, supposedly, a MUCH better drum machine than the previous one, (the main thing I hated about the box I have now). - - - So, I'll be unloading my current Zoom MRS1044 for $300 in the next couple of weeks. I figured I'd mention it here since some of you might be interested. You pay shipping. Oh - as long as I'm pimping - I ALSO have a Tascam 8-track cassette recorder that I'll unload for $150. That's right. $150. It's nothing but a big huge door-stop in my basement right now. BUT, it weighs a ton, so, shipping might hurt you. If you live in the ATL, this might be a sweet deal for you. (p.s. - prices are "or best offer", so, you know, it don't hurt to orgnote me a price if you wanna work with me.) [Edited 11/24/04 6:50am] The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Nice new toy, if not just for the 8 inputs but "Each of the inputs can have individual compression and EQ effects applied." Sweet.

Last time you said the Tascam 2488 was the bomb. What happened to that opinion?

Two words: Learning Curve. I'm under a schedule to wrap up these recordings. If I got the Tascam, I'd have 24 tracks and three months to have to learn how to use them. With the Zoom, I'm counting on the interface being similar, so I can get down to making the music instead of learning how to use the tools. Besides, I can't imagine needing 24 tracks for funk. Symphony, yeah, funk? No. Keepin it simple. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3
