Dj Software

Hi all,
Can anybody recomend a piece of DJ software. Something that will allow me to create mixes, manipulate song speeds, pitch etc.... Perhaps something not too pricey or, even better, for free! i use a pc.

Any help would be appreciated

i do mix live, using turnables and a mixer. However, as a presentation cd i want to create something extraordinary which can not be achieved by playing live. I want greater manipulation of the music.

Any other suggestions, anybody?

i use a thing called tracktor dj. Not very good, asa it does not allow much manipulation of the sound besides pitch and bpm. i, too, am keen for other dj software recommendations.

Anybody
You do as I say

I can recommend Acid Pro from SonicFoundry. It may not do everything you require to use as a dj tool, but it can certainly do everything you've requested here - you can just drag wav's into it, each one is then a separate sample or 'channel', and you can change pitch, stretch & squash etc. You can also cut up, replicate, move bits of samples around as required.
I enjoy creating mixes, I've done quite a few, and have only ever used 3 pieces of software to do so : CoolWave (for some serious wav tweaking), Musicmatch (just for converting mp3 to wav and vice versa), and I do most of the work in AcidPro. I've always found it really easy to use and have yet to encounter something I wanted to do that it couldn't manage. I should probably point out that I'm not a musician (or a dj), and therefore my expectations of such a product may be lower than yours, but having said that, some of the mixes I've made sound a lot better (to my ears anyway) than some of the awful shite I've heard in clubs, so it is, in my opinion, a perfectly capable piece of software for creating mixes.

And of course the best part about AcidPro is that it's free!

The latest version is AcidExpress 4.0, which looks to have even more features than the one I use (I think mine is version 2).
