John P - SELF-TITLED DEMO UP NOW ON SOUNDCLICK!

Ok I know I've put up a lot of threads advertising these songs lately (attention whore, I know), but now I feel they are truly DONE and I'm quite proud of them...If you play them back to back, you can hear the wind sound I've included which links them all as on the CD...plus I've tightened up the production on EVERY track. Hope you guys think they're good 'cause I value you guys' input! I've had some positive reviews in other circles so far...

Go on, give them a listen!

These all sound really good to me. To me they'd seem to flow perfectly back-to-back if "In Transit" were the closing number for these tunes.

no, on second thought, i appreciate your view on that, but i've mixed these to death with the wind theme following through that track coming from the previous one and I can't do it again....I just can't. It HAS to be finished now!

lol

I like 'Still Breathing' a lot. I only listened to it for the first time today.

The lyrics don't really do it for me though. I like the juxtaposition between "hunted" and "haunted" though.

great, varied stuff with depth. not knowing what to expect with each song.
i cant comment on lyrics as i think they are personal to you.

Blue Sky Blues - nice sounds, unusual feel. small point, too many chords
(or is it key changes?) for me.

Still Breathing - nice melody, catchy, but maybe too much reverb on the vocals.

Goddammit - another catchy song, too short maybe?

Thanks for the kind comments.

I've kind of moved on from this now, gotten better at producing, etc and I have some better songs on the way which should be ready in a couple of months when I get back to Sydney and get my recording equipment all sorted out (I'm visiting Portland, Oregon right now). Expect to hear some live band work from me and my band, too. Perhaps there will be some of these songs, perhaps not, but note well that it will certainly sound different, better and will take the shape of a real ALBUM!

John,

I listened to these tracks last night. A couple of observations: vocals sound good, but maybe buried a bit in the mix. There's some Jeff Buckley-esque moments there (and that's a good thing). There's a lot o' reverb in there at times (and that's something that I've gotten criticized for in here). Maybe a little fatter low-end, too? Song structures seem to be good - maybe work a bit on your hooks and throw in a catchy chorus here and there. The acoustic ditty was nice, but too bad you cut it short. Nice job! Check out my band's website.
