Have no idea if it's copyright infringement, mostly we refer to that as "crap" nod

Luv4oneanotha

you mean covers?
yah thats a copyright violation

in order to publish it to the internet you have to get a seal of approval from prince

i have thousands of covers, i never publish it because i have no approval from prince
thus its in violation
i can only use it in live sage workings

Just say you're parodying Prince, then it's okay wink.

Actually, I believe that if you re-arrange four measures, I think it's four measures in a row in a song, you've arranged it and don't need to pay royalties. But this doesn't include lyrics. So, I suppose you could cover Prince instrumentals, just as long as you played some segments of large variation within them.

Then again, that might only apply to live recordings. I'm trying to think about what we did with our CDs. It was legal, but it was also a few years ago, so I don't remember.

You can Alway's post your own music here.If it's not a blatant cover of another Artist.Like your own compositions.

my post was a joke. get it? I was being ironic, in that I was saying don't post another artist's music, and my signature has a link to my cover of a Prince song.

As long as you're not making money at it, I honestly think it's not a horrible thing. As soon as somebody comes along and tells you to stop posting the link, be ready to yank it.

You can record a cover of the song. You can give copies to your friends, but, yes, as soon as you use the song for $$ purposes, you're making money off of that person's labor. Look at it that way.

I can only imagine that he's already heard it (or one of his attack dogs), if he ever visits this site, because that link has been my sig for almost a year now. It's also my sig at housequake.com. Honestly. if I ever hear from them telling me to yank it, I'll definitely pull it, and then I'll remove the link to the song.

OH I KILL ME!

To be honest, we're talking about actually recording a real-studio version of this for the new band, and actually putting it on a real record and selling it, so, the question of copyright infringement would be moot by then, I spose. You know, when I've got ten lawyers covering me.

Yeh, so far the boy King, (Prince), hasn't asked you to "yank it"{thanks 4 da graphics Slave2daGroove eek }which probably means he's cool about it.
This just reminded me of Wierd Al Yankovich, my son's right into him; saying that Prince is one of the only people who have denied him permission to parody one of his tracks.
Bit of trivia.
