Blue Sky Blues + more - please comment on my latest...(UPDATED!)

Just finished this new song, "Blue Sky Blues" and another, "The Cool and the Cold" which was originally a piano demo, but now has vocals, too. On top of this, I just reworked "In Transit" if you'd care to check that out, too.

Please check em out and comment!

this one was hard for me to follow. I will say it was totally unique. kinda weird. still has Beatle-esque moments. neutral

hard to follow how? It's a pretty straightforward pop song structure with a few twists perhaps....oh well i guess not everyone will "get" it.

Anyone else?

Hey guys, I hate to sound needy but I put a lot of work into these songs.

All I ask is your opinion of "Blue Sky Blues"....forget the other tracks, although there's a newie up now, a remake of "In Transit" that I wouldn't mind some comments on, too, if you have the time. I promise to comment on your tracks if you post here on mine!

Pretty please?

Blue Sky Blues

Pretty slick!
I like the drum progamming. A little more left field from other songs and that's a good thing.

I would suggest you back off the levels of some of the percussion and the drum track for that matter and increase the levels of the guitar. Maybe a little more gain on your vocals too. On my monitors, your vocals sound a little burried.

I can't put my finger on it, but it seems like the chorus could use some sort of backing melody instrument. Maybe piano or keys? or maybe a second guitar track? Some strange synth patch that's mistifying sounding maybe. Sounds almost complete!

That little chant thing at the end was REALLY cool. Bring that back at the end and let it vamp out. Need's a cool ending! Perhaps get a crazy percussion thing goin on with the chant and end it on heavy reverb vocal of "Blue Sky" and let it echo out. (that's how I would do it anyway)

Thanks for sharing!

Hi...

Thanks for the comments, yamomma,

I would have done as you said with boosting levels and lowering others, except the way I work is very basic and I only have fruityloops and cool edit as tools. Basically I mix as I go because my computer can't handle lots of single instrument tracks....so I guess it is as finished as it's gonna get unfortunately. I really need to buy the proper equipment and software and a fast computer to do it right, but for the moment, this is all I have. Thanks for the compliments about production - considering what I have I feel it's my best job in that regard so far.

Okay, I've added extra guitar and compressed it a little further and added a different ending which I had left over from a longer version I had of this song. I also lowered the treble a little for the percussion and added some extra kick drum in parts.

Hopefully it sounds better now! I think it's quite an improvement personally.

U have a unique sense of chordal changes and structures. My ear goes on an unpredictable ride when I listen to your compositions. It is easy to see that you dream in "color". Your music is very colorful and visual.I have visions of the "Yellow Submarine" if you get my point. Good job.
