I have a PDf that could help you.

It's in the ky of Bfla. So it's Bflatsus2, Gm7add C, F, Eb(addf)

That's the basic progression.

ETA this isn't written in the chart, but when I play it, I add a little progression going from the Eb(addf) down to the Bb.... kidna going down chromatically..... (something like Eb, Bb/D, Cm7 down to the Bb). Like when P is playing it in his room in the movie listening to W&L's tape.

Thats really nice, it sounds beautifull when he plays it solo at the piano in the movie. That decending progression is nice. Do you repeat it though? It sounds like its eight chords in the decent not just four. Is it the same 4 chords repeated again?

Thanks! I did that back in college. I'm not that great at playing by ear... trying to practice more.

I haven't watched the movie lately, but I think what I do when I play the progression.... is go (i'm abbreviating the chords here)...Eb, Bb/D, Cm7--hold on the Cm7 for a beat, (i.e. 3 chords+1 held beat), then repeat it faster ending on the Bb (4 more chords).

So I gues it's 7, chords cuz the 3rd one is held. If that makes any sense.

BTW I'm doing this on keys... I dont' play guitar so I don't know how it works on that.

LilredC: Are you asking about my post? I play keys so not sure how to write this out on here..... and I don't really understand guitar tabs.

But let me try:

1. the progression starts on the Eb. So with my right hand,I play a regular Eb chord 2nd inversion which is: Bb, Eb, G. LEFT HAND plays Eb.

2. The next chord is what I think a Bb over a D in the bass. RIGHT HAND: Bb, D, F. LEFT HAND plays a D.

3. Cm7. RIGHT HAND; Bb , C , Eb. LEFT HAND: C

4. Bbsus2 (I think that's the proper name). Bb, C(that's the 2), F. LEFT HAND: Bb.

This last chord is the opening chord of the song too.

Notice in the right hand, the bottom note is always the same Bb so you can just kind if shift your hand and play the progression without moving too much.

It's ok, I meant the chords for the guitar. But since you play the piano I understand how you misinterpreted it. I meant the chords like on a guitar A is 002220 and C is 032010. biggrin
