I'm being my usual self, however I can't tell if this is too repetitive. Is it too naked in an area? Be careful when listening the sound level drops at 1:46. I think this has a wonderful "For You"-era sound, but yes, it gets repetitive. I can see that at the moment it's a fully-formed idea, but it needs to get to the next stage beyond "idea". You need a bridge and most importantly some vocals. A majorish guitar solo (not too overdriven) would sound great on this, too. 1975 Was listening to Jamiroquai and the Brand New Heavies this morning and thought I'd try my hand at it something like it. There are tons of fuck-ups on the bassline. How authentic do the drums sound? I know the fill-ins give it away that they are programmed but. But do the snares and hi-hats sound like a real kit? Can anyone provide a link for authentic sounding drum kit samples in WAV format? A real drummer CANNOT play that precisely...I don't care if your name's John Blackwell, those kick drum parts are too robotic to sound human. I'd say work on some dynamics from beat to beat to get a more human sound, or better still, enlist a live drummer. As for the rest of the song, I REALLY dug it! I thought it was awesome, but yeah, if you're going for a live drummer sound, fiddle with the dynamics, particularly on the snare fills and kick. Hope I haven't sounded to harsh, but yeah I think these changes would make for better songs, honestly. You have an awesome sound though and I envy your keyboard work...I wish I could play keys like that! . [Edited 9/18/04 17:13pm] | |
