Hey folks just thought I'd say hello

Still no studio (its been nearly 11 months) but Ive been writting a lot of new stuff. Havnt updated the site for yonks but its still fairing strong dispite the lack of new material. Ive been working on my other site http://www.planet-musician.com as this one doesnt need a working studio to be successful lol

Hows the New Funk Order getting along cant wait to hear the finished CD? Hows the music careers goin??

anyway NFO II is pretty much done, i just need 2 put a*few* touches on the back cover and label. III still needs artwork which is being taken care of by newfunk or yamomma i think. IV is gonna be a live album i hear.

Ive been working on an ep lately that I wanna release. I want it to be kinda like a collage of 3 tracks lasting about 15-20mins. A sort of tribute to the symphony composers like motzart, bethoven, bach etc

Im also working on a version of Angel's Reply performed entirely on the bass guitar. Angel's Reply was originally a bass idea so I thought I would try to take it back to that by playing the bass, keyboad & melody lines all on the Bass guitar using harmonics & other techniques much in the style of Jaco Pastorius or Victor Wooten

Off course both the ep & the bass version of Angel's Reply are great ideas unless you dont have a working studio lol.

ya know theres a funny story on that. Cloud9 Mission's orginal meaning was altogether different from how it was interpreted. At first I got some studio computer stuff for christmas and started recording tracks. Then I started getting really into recording and decided I would aim to write an album.

The concept was inspired by Prince's comments on the 'Beautiful Strange Night' (a Prince special) shown on channel 4 years ago. Prince says that theres enough things in life to get you down, we should'nt jack our music up that way too.

Inspiring words from Prince made me wanna create an album that made people feel good about themselves or whatever. My Girlfriend at the time came up with the title - 'Cloud9'

I friend of mine at college was running a website for his music which I thought was such a cool idea. I wanted to do the same with Cloud9 but he'd spent a lot of money on webdesigners & I couldnt afford to do that. Then I figured 'how hard can it be' and started learning to program website stuff on a need to know basis.

On my website I had planned to document my mission to create the album - Cloud9. Hence The Cloud9 Mission was born. I find it quite cool that my mission to create a single 9 track CD was enterpreted as an artist on a mission for the eutopia or something.

But my point is that, as the whole Cloud9 Mission thing was really just a mission to create an album, now that Ive recorded that album Im pretty stumped as to what to do next. What on earth could I call the next album? Should I change the name as the 'mission' is technically complete?

But I absolutely LOVE Dre's idea - 'Evolution'. To be honest the best thing about the whole Cloud9 project was that it made me think differently about music, take my music more seriously & (as a result) I evolved! Thats an awesome title Dre! Mind if I use it?

I actually had some moderation activity the last couple of weeks
EP showed us his butt!
I did a new funk tune (for a video I'm working on)
psykosoul lost his groove and only stella will bring it back, I'm sure
Otan will name his new son Paisleypark4
Richard Hill is alive. He posted a week ago. oh, and he has a new album
My son is getting his weekend doses of drums and piano.
JD got locked out of the org from his job

and PP4 got his song #1 on the soundclick charts.

cloud 9, love the stuff! really cool. i hope you get the live stuff up and running soon. i think it would translate really well onto a live setting, especially with your obvious talent for crafting arrangements. if you get hooked up we should maybe try and do something with the two bands.

still no full studio stuff that represents how we want to sound, usual muso issues prevent! (money!!!!) but we are looking at getting some kind of ep together before the end of the year.
