O.K. so I'm of the opinion that, people should say something good or don't say anything at all. So my comments are meant to make your comic better, not to be offensive. The other thing is that there are a lot of musicians around here, like myself, who work in graphics and advertising, so understand that perspective that I'm coming from.

First, I like your cut-aways and framing to move the story along. I found it easy to follow and could understand how it flowed. You have a clear idea of how a comic works and your storyboards are solid.

Your illustration style has a style but it lacks consistency. What I mean is, every time you draw Prince it should look similiar (proportions, jaw line, etc.), it gives the reader something to grab onto and recognize from page to page.

The copy is clearly your opinion of Prince and doesn't mention too many facts, you may want a disclaimer to that effect. I'm not disagreeing with what you've wrote or have the need to go over facts (other than the omission of the One Night Alone album, box set and world tour).

I know this is work in progress and I'm just trying to give you some feedback to make it better. Thanks for sharing it, I'm sure it's months worth the work.

peace

Thanx for the fair review. Appreciate your criticism of the visual inconsistency of Prince . . . I approached each source photo as its own entity and didn't concern myself with frame-to-frame cohesiveness. Will definitely work on that in the future. Thanx for noticing the cut-aways and framing . . . I approached the piece with the notion that the framing scheme would make up for that defficiency.

I don't necessarily agree with your suggestion for a disclaimer. A case could be made if adding a disclaimer was standard practice for every article. But I think the various articles that are posted on the site are just as opiniated as my take, and nary a disclaimer is to be found. I was thinking that whomever reads it would take whatever I had to say about Prince with a grain of salt.

I did find myself omitting a great amount of information to make it fit within 6 pages. (An arbitrary length.) If I had more room, I would have definitely go more indepth about his religious conversion, his website, and the Rainbow Children. Everytime I do a comic strip, I'm always amazed by how much of it involves cutting out much more than I ever thought I had to.

I was wondering if you can expand on your take of my opinion. I posted this pdf up to see how close my opinion jibes with that of other Prince fans.

Thanx
Ken

I really liked reading this comic, it's very nice and informative. I have to agree that the illustration style lacks consistency. I would advise to keep the story the way it is and work on a consistent "Prince" character and you have a winner.
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

Hey, it's cool, I just always thought Prince was fighting with Warner Brothers over the rights of his masters (which wasn't mentioned) and the fact that he wanted to put out music whenever he wanted and not wait for the WB machine to promote it.

I understand about cuttting info to make it all fit and I don't want stupid little details to take away from all of the work you've done.

It's kick-ass and just work on that consistency thing, color it and tell me where to buy a copy.

peace
