Moderator | Here we go again... UPDATE
Well. Here comes another one. Category 3 that is expected to move up to a 4 and now possibly even a 5. The path it's made has kept it on the ocean missing all the usual paths through the islands that usually slows these things down a bit. We were out of power for about 5 days. Many other people in Palm Beach were out for around 2 weeks. They say this one could keep us out of power for up to a month. I was born and raised in the mountains of Tennessee, so my survival skills are pretty good. But when you have 2 babies, you kinda need/prefer these things called electricity and running water. Just wanted to write in and give you guys a heads up in case I get knocked off-line for a while. I read yesturday morning that 1000 people were killed in Haiti by this hurricane. Little scared Previously on "This 'ol Studio" Well... Frank and I just put up the last of the shudders on the 'ol studio. Hurricane Francis is on its way over. Should be here by Friday Night. (Category 5!) Please say a prayer and/or wish us luck. I have the family all settled in about 20 miles west of the coast at our new home. I feel better. The Studio and all our toys are a bit more (or less) to worry about now as it's about a half mile from the coast. A category 5 doesn't really care about that though. It can destroy everything in it's path all the way through Florida from coast to coast if it wants to. I went to the grocery store and stocked up on all the esentials... I can't believe some of these places rackin up the prices on water and gas. Just evil, I tell ya. I have a gas generator that I'll be picking up tomorrow from a relative. (just in case) The Hurricane that came through 2 weeks ago knocked out a lot of folks without power for 7-8 days! I can't take that chance with a newborn baby. I'll be working on a few more things tomorrow and hopefully it will head more north. Not like that wish would help the folks living North of us. Man these things SUCK! All Rights Reserved. |

http://www.weather.com/ne.../tropical/ ohh.... That makes me fell better! LOL... Guess we just have to wait until tomorrow before packing up the SUV. This Just IN... An evacuation notice has just been issued for people along the coast and especially mobil home people. Now the thought plan is whether to get going north now or lock up here. The studio is like 80 years old and is build like a castle. The new home I just moved into over the weekend is brand new with all the latest codes. Or F... that and get in the car and go to Tennessee with my brothers? (12 -14 hour drive with rediculous gas prices along the way) Oh, I hate this. All Rights Reserved. |

Moderator | Got all the supplies early this morning.
People ARE FRICKIN CRAZY on the roads. I swear I was ALMOST in an accedent every turn I made today in the truck. People are running red lights, making illegil u-turns, getting violent at the pumps, etc... I was still able to fill up the tank though. I also got the gas generator down from my mom's old house where they say it's going to hit head on. She's staying with us right now. The roads are packed. Home Depot is a riot waiting to happen from what I saw driving by. I'm glad I don't have to worry about getting anything last minute! I think I'm all set now. I must have 6 months worth of dipers, canned food and about a week's worth of water. People on the coast need to get the heck out of dodge period! The computer models of the storm show it covering most of the entire state when it hits tomorrow. Jeb Bush is saying we're going to get hit and it's going to be hard. No one really knows where exactly the eye will hit. Right now they are saying just north of where I am but that eye is like 80 frickin miles wide! and 180 something miles of tropical winds that will linger over south florida for 24 hours. Whoo Hoo! Maybe I'll write a song about it... All Rights Reserved. |

People needs to simma down- it ain't like there hasn't been a hurricane in Florida before! Hey yamomma, I think you should kidnap the next old man who tries to get lippy with you.
Oh, and I am praying for you and your families safety. I know that things will be ok. I expect that this hurricane will weaken before landfall because the eye should stay out long enough to be carried a bit north. Peace, JD

Moderator | When I first moved to Florida, I saw what Andrew did to Miami and it was absolutely horrible. This thing looks way bigger than Andrew. Every time a hurricane comes through I always hear someone say how West Palm Beach has been untouched for a very, very long time and that it's day would be comming. Oh, yeah. I'm supposed to be the calm one in my family. All Rights Reserved. |

But today all the news channels are saying we're going to get hit HARD and evacuation orders have been made for most of the coast. It's not even worth getting in the car cause the roads are backed up like crazy. Not to metion the CRAZY people in those cars. Tomorrow should really tell us what's likely to happen. Yes, hurricanes come through here all the time. But this one is a hecka lot bigger than the average. Did you ever read about what Andrew did? People without power for weeks. Thousands of homes and jobs were destroyed. Loads of families were homeless. It's deffinately something to take notice of. My family is all set. Now it's just time to wait it out. I remember them bringing in the National Guard with Andrew. They were cleaning up that one for over a year. Trees through houses, boats thrown miles inland. God's got my back, I know. It's remaining calm enough to listen is the challenge. All Rights Reserved. |

Moderator | I dunno.
When the Governor gets on TV and says "Lives will be lost" that kinda puts people in a frenzy. I mean did he have is coffee yet this morning? What kinda thing is that to say to your entire state? When I drove by the airport there are a lot of military recon aircrafts. I assume they are scoping this storm. It's deffinately going to be FREAKY FRIDAY tomorrow. Whether the eye hits west palm or not, we're still going to be hit by 40 to 60 mph tropical storm winds that can uproot trees and send all kinds of junk through your living room window. This will be the first time West Palm has been hit in over 50 years. And the desperate really show their ugly heads in these situations. I'm going to stay locked up at home until it's all over. Moderator | Ok, I'll make this quick...
Power just came back. I stink No gas, but coming in slowly I stink No running water (but still have pleanty of drinking water) I stink Generator was running low on fuel just in time before the power came back up. I stink bad Been working out of the back of a truck for the last few days clearing debris from roads and driveways in the hot sun, and then bad thunder storms that got me pleanty soaked. I'm really stinking bad Phones are back up. I stink No meats, milk, or anything that requires refrigeration until tomorrow. Did I say I can smell myself? Family and newborn are fine. Hard to sleep at night when your sweating your arse off. So we're pretty tired. I'm on my way to look for gas again. I'm told that a lot of stores should have a lot of items stocked again by tomorrow. I might be back to work by tomorrow. Maybe not. It's really bad down here. A lot of crazy people out there. I'll tell you guys more later. It's getting better now though. Warm water sucks after a while. I can't wait for a cold mountain dew! The studio took a good beating but no structure damage. Just mounds of debris and fallen trees. Got a lot of water in the front room, but no equipment got damaged. The carpet is going to stink for a while, or we'll just need to replace it. Talk more later! I'll never complain about the AC in the office being to cold ever again! (lol) All Rights Reserved. |

I mean this is just horrible. If the storm doesn't get you, the aftermath can make you crazy! All Rights Reserved. |

VERY glad you're okay. A very good friend is holed up in Tampa - he survived it all as well, but I was definitely worried about both you freaks.
Glad you're okay. Are you getting any sleep these days? I'd LOVE to have just 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep, but, hey, that's another conversation altogether. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Glad you're cool. (well sort of)
When things return to normal (maybe when Ivan passes) use the "stink" to make something funky. Hopefully all your equipment survived, but if you ever need repair work the Rappolt brothers (AMP Svcs) are superstars. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. What's that? Actually got a few last night with the AC back on. It's amazing the amount of things you take for granted when you don't have them anymore. #1 thing right now being a cool environment and machines that keep food and water cold. I used to love chips and crackers before, but I can do without them for a quite a while now. Things like not having meat for 4-5 days make you really sluggish. Cold water was like heaven last night! I'm cleaning out the water in the studio this evening. Whoo it's stinky in there. It's still pretty mad crazy out there though. Lots of people still without power and going nuts.
