Clapton - Tremolo

Does anyone know if Clapton uses or ever used the Tremolo on his Fender much.

I have alot of the footage but he doesn't seem to be using it or equiped his guitar with it?

What do you think? If he does'nt like using but decided to immplement it would enhance his guitar playing or sound?

I'm pretty sure he never used it. Maybe he wants to stay away from sounding like his old rival Hendrix. All other guitars he's been associated with had stop tailpieces (Yardbirds tele, Cream SG, Bluesbreakers Les Paul, Blind Faith ES-335) too. Using it would make him less recognizable I think. His finger vibrato is one of his strongest characteristics. I think he might sound more Dave Gilmour-like probably.

The Fender Tremolo arm is notorious for being a dud piece of equipment. So do all of 'em , except the Floyd rose lockdown ,which as the name suggests locks both upper and lower bridges with a allen key secured bar on top of the strings so when the arm is released the strings return to a 'in tune' position.Floyd rose vibrato setups are complex with little round screw thingy's at the body bridge you can twist when the bridges are locked, so you can fine tune. You can lift up on them also,as well as pushing down to stretch the strings.A friend has one on his Fender Strat, but all in all Tremolo/Vibrato bridges are not what it's about, unless you wanna play really far out shit. Frank Zappa, Steve Vie,Eddie Van Halen, more modern dudes are a few who used them. There's an English bigsby bridge which seems o.k., But getting back on track 'Eric', being a purest didn't use a Tremolo arm. Jimi did when he was tripping out basically, as in when he was about to smash his guitar up and tuning didn't matter too much, lol . Each to his own wink
~PClinuxOS~ yes I've been here longer than I care to remember, ... I drop in from time to time, ... thumbs up!
