Moderator | "Hotter than August" Updated 8/21 New Version UPDATED: 8/21 http://digitalsoundscapes.../July2.mp3 Old One: http://digitalsoundscapes...o/July.mp3 Background music for an upcoming video. (Oh, and best song ever posted here! per OTAN) Update: My wife and I will be having our 2nd child on Monday. Our first is a boy, this time it's going to be a girl. Now all we need is a cat, dog and a white picket fence and we'll just have the american dream right? (or a TV sit-com) I'll probably be taking a week or two off work as well as the computer to spend some serious quality time with my growing family. I'm diggin' this whole "dad" thing. I think my wife would probably appreciate being taken care of too. Peace guys! Kelly (yamomma) All Rights Reserved. |

Killer Groove. I hear it in a movie for sure.
Some of the changes seem a little abrupt at times but other than that I love the sound effects and my favorite effect - The Wah Wah. Is that bass line from the chemical brothers? How are you doing the horns?

Moderator | Apple has developed a new version of Final Cut Pro (HD)
It comes with a sequencing program called Soundtrack. It has thousands of sounds. You can use your own keyboard as a controller. I'll have to work with the arrangement some more. I just wanted to knock something out in an hour to set up my timeline for the video. http://www.apple.com/soundtrack/ All Rights Reserved. |

Moderator | ok, after listening to it again at full volume from the studio monitors....
THIS IS COOL! (if I don't mind stepping back and patting myself on the back!) I know EXACTLY what needs to be changed now. This will be extended to about 10 minutes with a whole "world beat" kinda bridge where the drums take a bow, that I want to take from contanent to contanent and then a kick arse vamp that just builds and builds.... I'll do some over-dubs of the industry that I was hired to do this for to accent the visuals I'm working on. It really sucks that I can't post the video for I am under contract to keep the confidential stuff private. There are a lot of employee and facility photos in the video that are not supposed to be public... Oh, well. I'm excited about this one again! All Rights Reserved. |

Often, I'm a "work for hire" kinda guy and can't post EVERYTHING I do because someone else "owns" it. Lately, I feel more inclined to post the demo before I sign it over to someone else. A larger audience is always appreciated! So thanks! All Rights Reserved. |

I was here a long time before I volunteered to be a mod for this forum only. Actually I do more visual work than music. Thanks for the feedback! All Rights Reserved. |

I've gotta check by here more often.
My 1st impression, based on the intro, was "Very '70s, very Shaft." As the tune progressed I felt like I was in the back seat of Karl Malden's car, chasing a criminal through The Streets of San Francisco. Very nice. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Moderator | Thanks.
BTW, I played back the NFO II album last night to some friends and your song "747: Flight of Passage" turned a lot of heads. I think that was the first time I listened to it myself at full volume with some proper monitors. Man! there is so much going on in that song with the bass, I was totally blown away... again! I think that was the first time I listened to it myself at full volume with some proper monitors. Man! there is so much going on in that song with the bass, I was totally blown away... again! NP. That's great to hear that you and others are digging the track. The bassline in the 7/4 sections is one i've had rolling around in my head for a few years. When I finally built a track around it is when I noticed that it reminded me of the line Bootsy used on James Brown's quasi-live version of Give It Up Or Turnit A Loose off of the 1970 Sex Machine album. That became the basis for the 4/4 section. I asked the bass player (a friggin' monster player as you've noticed) to play the structured 7/4 section as written and use the Bootsy line as a guide for where he wanted to go with the 4/4 "drive this mutha into the ground" section. He obviously did that and then some. There was actually supposed to be the sound of a 747 in the transistion sections but ended up being one of those things that just didn't get done in time. I know I owe you some more data. Maybe we should adopt an early Prince-like attitude and not give any more info. Thanks again. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Is it a collection of sequenced samples or did you play all the parts yourself? RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...
