What I have been up to

NOTHING! evillol

I've been working on my website, www.vinablue.net

I uploaded some pictures from my vacation over here: http://vinablue.net/Gallery/Esalen

I'll be getting some new equipment next month, so I can have a better setup for recording.

I'm looking for someone local that can help me finish up my cd. I'm gonna burn a demo and give it to this guy: http://www.myspace.com/elpoeta Who just happens to be the boyfriend of an old co-worker/friend. He's signed to an independent label, so he may or may not have time to polish up my tracks. Who knows.

Anywho, check out the pictures! I've had 4 dreams about going back to Esalen.

Nothing is always special. biggrin I checked out those pictures of your vaction (actually a while ago) and they remind me of when my family and I went to Monterey CA. Route 1 is an awesome drive, I love the california coast.

Fill us in on what kind of equipment you are getting. razz

Cool web site. That picture looks introspective.

Yeah, what kind of equipment are you talking about?

Lord, I have no clue about the equipment. Basically I need:

1. A mixer, so I can monitor my vocals when I record

2. A good mic (finally!)

3. A reverb unit for vocals

I know you're not supposed to record with effects, but sometimes, that's part of the magic and the feel of the song. All I have right now is my pc and a tape deck that I kinda rigged to monitor the vocals but it doesn't always work... I'm surprised I've gotten as far as I have with this minimal set up. But it's time to upgrade a bit, especially in light of the vocal seminar I went to. It's about honoring my creativity. The seminar cost a bundle, but it was sooooo worth it!

touched I wanna go back!!!

Yeah, where I was is just south of Monterey. It was my first time driving up on my own. I got a little dizzy because the road is VERY curvey. I want to go next year with my best friend. It's an awesome road trip.

Speaking of Road Trips, I may take one to Arizona sometime...

Last time I was in monterey I was 9, that area is unmistakable. I used to live in Lompoc CA - yes... anyone in the know would never admit it.

Don't tease me about coming to AZ, vina. You'd have to let me know. It's f-ing hot here. Some crack-head slashed the top to my convertable (89 Celica) - $750 to replace and the bastard got a whole $2.90 in change. Lesson here... Always leave the door to your ragtop unlocked. I might as well be riding a horse at this point.

what the f*ck were we talking about?

oh yea.

Make sure you think out your purchases very careful, unless you got money to burn or a good return policy. If you feel like it, tell what your current setup is. I don't know what you have so really wouldn't know what you need. A vocal Mic is always good, but pair it with a decent preamp, etc.

Hmmm. I don't know about Lompoc, but I LOVE San Luis Obispo. I stoped there to visit some friends on the way to Big Sur. Stayed in a motel 6 to cut the driving in half since I was alone. I'll let you know about AZ... I would love to see the Grand Canyon and I have 2 other friends I could visit there as well. It just can't be too hot. I'm hoping it cools down there in the winter?

Sorry to hear about your car. I'm hoping to get a new one in the next few months.

Ok, well I'm always open to hear what people use, especially if I really like their work, so go 'head. I seriously have nothing right now. My pc, my Korg N364 and and ISIS soundcard. That's it! For real. A hand me down mic that isn't the best for vocals... believe me, I spend TOO much time correcting the eq... I don't have and amp of any kind, no monitors... just speakers from my stereo... which is how I hear what I'm doing.

So what would you suggest for a vocal mic, reverb unit and mixer to monitor myself?
