Holy Crap my garage! I was out getting the mail and saw a 100-foot tree dropping. A HUGE tree.
The tree only winged my garage, but I saw it falling and it was terrifying. And now, a second tree has fallen but is still kept up by leaning against another tree in my backyard. If it falls, it'll probably hit the house. So, I'm having a serious chat with God, Mother Nature, the Tree Leader and whatever else is out there holding it up in place right now. I'll post photos later. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

I have been asking God for your protection all day, Beau. You will be protected. Now your garage, that's a different situation. Everything will be fine, you will be blessed.

Okay, things could be a whole lot worse, but, all in all, everything's okay. This photo shows the tree that fell, (bottom left of the photo) there USED to be a picnic table, chairs, and stuff like that all up under there. My main concern now is the thing I've subtlely highlited with a red outline and exclamation marks. THAT tree was knocked loose when the other tree fell, and it's now leaning against a standing tree, not unlike a drunk at any of my gigs.
So the question is... will Jeanne or Karl come up and knock that sucker loose? Because THAT one is definitely eyeballing my house. And just to give you an idea of how much I crapped my pants when I watched this thing falling, HERE is the hole it left in the woods. Honest, the real shock and awe was just in watching something so BIG and beautiful taking a dive. It had to be 75-100 feet tall. It's been there since we bought the house in 1968. Aaaand lastly, the carnage. (ha.) there's only a little damage to the garage, but, what you DONT see is my garbage can. You know the type? It's on wheels, you roll it out front on garbage day? It's about two feet tall now. And yes, I am indeed grateful to be alive and only be missing 4 feet of gutter off an 80-year-old garage. It could be a lot worse, and I'm sure it IS a lot worse for others out there. My prayers are going out to all higher powers for the safety and well being of all people. And go check out my song, it kicks ass. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

And some gas and a match. I was really hoping that the garage would get obliterated, so I could tell the insurance company that I'd JUST remodelled it into a $50,000 recording studio. Two stories, soundproofed, the works. And now, it's still a damn shed with a busted (duct-taped) gutter. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Moderator | Actually my old art teacher had a studio like that off to the side of his house. (2 story)
The cool thing was that he had a rope bridge that went from his bed room balcony, through the trees to the upper level balcony of his studio. His wife was a bank president and let him go all Bob Vila all over the place whatever he wanted to do. His studio kicked butt. It was also like the bat cave. He had a fireman's pole that went down to the lower level where he had one of those mini hovercrafts that went down the hill to the lake. Just sweet. He used to invite his class up to his place on a weekend to go draw a tree or three. My big brother blew the hovercraft by hitting a jagged branch. So we were not allowed to ride it anymore after that. All Rights Reserved. |

I think it´s so incredible these things about hurricanes, there is not these kinda of things here in Brazil, i think that if if happened with me I would go away, live under a bridge or an island, how can you people live with hurricanes flying over your head. I am kinda coward to face something like it. [Edited 9/17/04 12:15pm]

Moderator | I'm in West Palm Beach and we really haven't had a major storm in something like 50 years, so I was told.
What we saw a couple of weeks ago was a first for me. (I've lived here for almost 12 years) In Tennessee, the only thing you had to worry about was sleeping with a relative. Gotta do some serious background check in them small towns you know! All Rights Reserved. |

And in Brazil, you've got them crazy drug gangs. (City Of God reference there).
Our 'hood is okay. I had to take about 5 detours this morning to get through it all, and I kept thinking, "but I've got this SUV! I CAN DRIVE OVER ALL THIS!! HAHAHA!" And then the coffee kicked in and I simmered down. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

What one thing has to do with another? I didn´t said this to put your place down, was more to the fact that i couldn´t pass through it because i am not used to natural disasters. But if you wanna get started i can be an asshole too. But i won´t do this, cause i am not an idiot and I got better things to do.
