Dirty guitar sound Paisley Park 12" I know a lot of the same questions probably keep popping up and I apologize if this has been asked recently.
I have read the threads on the effects, pedals, and guitar setup that Prince uses and they have been helpful. However, does anyone know how Prince got the nasty/raw guitar sound at the beginning of the 12" version of Paisley Park? It sounds to my ear like a lot of distortion and overdrive, but I would like to know if anyone here knows for sure. It sounds a little dirtier and out of control than many of his guitar parts. I dunno, I've always suspected that that beginning may be Wendy on het Rickenbacker through an overdriven amp...

Wendy? It is a ripping solo with some crunching power chords, if it is Wendy then I am impressed. "Did u love somebody

Have you seen the Prince & the Revolution live video? Wendy can definitely play!

No I'm sure...
Seriously, how could I know. But the timing just doesn't sound prince-y to me. Just like that rhythm riff on the 12" of I would die 4 u. It's different.

I think that cuz It sounds like Neil Finns record "One All". And Wendy plays all over that. On a side note: i remember when I heard Sherly Crow's song "My Favorite Mistake". The second those funky sloppy chords came in I thought-man that reminds me of revolution era Prince. Low and behold thats Wendy! She added alot to that distinct Revolution sound. Nero
