Thanx! I would like 2 know how the Talkbox actually works. When I have seen video clips of Roger he seems 2 b using a switch which is kinda like what can b found on keyboards 2 bend the pitch and this is how he gets the kinda 'ooooowwww' kinda vocals that u can hear on songs like 'So Ruff, So Tuff'. How is the actual keyboard/synth and the talkbox connected 2gether and what equipment is required?. I basically would like a detailed explanation of the Talkbox which is used with Keyboards/Synthesiers. The one used with guitars is kinda different so thats why I keep asking the same question!.

The ooooohh - where the "voice" quavers - he's rolling the wheel that makes the note have vibrato. On them there high-end keyboards, there's two wheels - one bends the notes up and down, and one controls the vibrato, (or, nowadays, you can make it control any number of things, like the rotary on the organ sound, expand the stereo chorus effect on the rhodes, etc). So, when he's doing the ooo-weeee on "More Bounce", he's rolling the pitch bend controller, and when he's doing that wavy "oooo" on "Hey Lady", he's rolling the vibrato controller. It's crazy. Try playing the intro to "Knee Deep" by P-Funk. They're using both controllers through that one riff - so, you learn the NOTES, and then you gotta learn which wheel goes where, when. But, once you get it, it's purty koo. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

There's another track I wrote which uses the vocoder called "Charity" if ya wanna listen. http://www.drezone.ukf.ne...ew_dre.htm 'dre Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!
