i just posted this at the NPGMC about real musicianship

Lately there has been alot of talk from Prince about people being able to play instruments and keeping real musicianship and showmanship alive.

Well, I can't play any instruments and have often toyed with the idea of learning a little sumthin.

My suggestion is that for the NPGMC to expand the idea of a music club to tutorials on basic music theory and even basic piano skills or guitar chords so that people can learn how to play instruments here at the club.

That way Prince can share his music but also help to teach the skills through his club.

I am not saying that prince should sit down and type up tutorials for us all but i am sure it could be a valuable addition to the club. I for one would use it.

it could expand to other instruments too.

With regards to payment of anything, it could be charged per tutorial, say $1.99 or and for that the purchaser could download a pdf file or sumthin.

Or it could be done as a one off payment and then you get access to all the tutorials.

We could also report back and make a forum for it so that we can all exchange tips and info. Kinda like a beginners musicians forum.

Just think of the bigger picture..... a major artist on a chat show in the future saying they learnt music at the NPGMC while they were purchasing prince songs!!!

superb

what y'all think?

so what does the Org think??? would you all be interested? Maybe even the Org could do sumthin like this

that's a pretty cool idea, actually. even if it were put together by other club members who can teach music, i'd be interested.

I thought so too.

would be nice for the Prince community to get together and even hook each other up with music teaching stuff.

We can all learn a bit more together.

there's been discussion of this idea in the past amongst members. I think its really a great idea...but then...www.npgmusiclub.com is not about music, it is about money neutral

Its a cool idea but just look at the 'org artist hangout' to see how unpopular that would be. Prince is something everyone here shares an interest in but music theory etc only really appeals to musicians or budding musicians like yourself. There just aint enough of us to justify the effort. Look how long it took us musicians of the org to get our own forum here & theres still only about 10-20 regular posters

in theory its a nice idea but it wouldn't it be easier for you to actually get up and go to a music center and take lessons? how would an online service really teach you guitar or piano or horns or anything? you need hands-on demonstration to really see the techniques.

Try doing a search for music tutorial -
this kind of music instruction is already available on the internet.
Why should the NPGMC duplicate info thats available elsewhere on the net?
You won't learn anything special just because it comes from Princes site.

I think we shouldnt confuse the people running Prince's website with music teachers. Prince & the NPG are not working on the site. Plus I dont think Ive ever heard of a big name artist giving out free lessons
