Buying albums at the NPGMUSICCLUB

You have to download everything that you buy don't you? No hard copies of anything is there?

yes

I have recently downloaded the most excellent "Xpectation" without the option of any hard-copy. Although I am happy with the final product, the quality is not as good as my store-bought N.E.W.S.. Also, I would've liked to have the option of getting the funky artwork that is shown on the web-site. No go, unfortunately, which is really too bad: it's tres, tres cool!
Despite the lower quality of music (seems less crisp with some background noise) and unavailable artwork, I'll be picking up "C-NOTE", "Slaughter House", and "Chocolate Invasion" when funds permit. If they're anywhere near as good as "Xpectation", I know I won't be disappointed. I'll have to end up coughing up the dough for the "Into the Joy Fantastic", as I missed out on a copy on ebay this afternoon. I was outbid by .50 cents! Argh! .50 cents! 15 bucks ain't half bad, but this Canadian student gotsta pay in U.S. dollars. Considering the albums I still have to download, I'll have to pawn my old copy of "Gold Nigga" for new funds just to keep up with the latest goods! Damn!

Doggone it. I don't know if it'd be worth me buying them then even though I really wanted

Chocolate Invasion and Slaughterhouse I have the slowest connection. It'd take me

forever to download even one of them.

i'd love it if there were some kind of 'honor system' where members with spiffier computers could download stuff for those with less spiff in their PCs, and...i dunno...money could be "donated" to the club so it wouldn't come off like illegal trading or whatever. maybe like an "adopt an NPGMCer" program or something, ha...clearly i haven't quite thought this concept through, but it seems a shame that some people have to miss out because they don't have the computer resources that others do. seems a bit unfair to me. what can ya do?

I think it's worth the time...some here have done so. You can always use a faster puter and burn them from there.

Cmon dude, that's just downright stealing. I don't care about people copying boots or deleted stuff, but this is available right now from the official source.

It is available...for some people. I know it might sound strange to some but there are lots of folks who can't burn cd's or download music. What are these folks supposed to do? The choice is either "steal" the music or don't get to hear the music. I think most folks are going to take the first option every time. What Prince needs to do is very simple. Release more cd's! Then everybody can enjoy his music.

It's cheaper and quicker 4 him with downloads. Its the future! Besides he just released a cd called Musicology. With the downloads he can keepup with the demand without over supplying and loosing $$$$$!

You are absolutely right. It is the future. But I don't think we are there quite yet. Most people still buy lots of cd's. He did just release Musicology on CD. But don't you want as much music as he releases? I know that I do. And if he won't release it in a format that I can access I have no problem "stealing" it! You also make a good point about Prince producing too many cd's (how many copies of New Power Soul do you think are sitting around collecting dust?) but he could remedy that by taking pre-orders for new cd's. Then he would sell everything that is produced. The fact is there is a big demand for him to release more cd's. Even many who buy downloads still prefer cd's. Why he is refusing to do as his fans ask him is beyond me. But I shouldn't be surprised. We are talking about Prince!

There us really no cost to put the downloads up, so everything is profit, so the download/s should be cheaper. The question is: do you think $9.99 is enough of a mark-down from a hard copy.

I know many people would like the ahdio shows, but they are not offered in any format. I like buying albums because I do not have to work to get the final product to the consumer (that being myself). I think most people like cover art and other stuff because it distinguishes it from "bootlegs".
