Glam Slam Room/Reflection Room-Waste of time/space?

Does anyone else think that these are wastes of space/time?

I come by once a week just to see if there is anything interesting. Glam Slam may have a remix (maybe a second song!) I have not heard. And reflection never has anything intresting.

Does anyone do like I do and just check out what's there...only to be disappointed. I rarely ever listen to the whole songs. Why? I have them already.

I agree that generally these parts of the NPGMC are unnecessary. How many people don't have those songs already? Ocassionally they stick on a semi rare 12 inch version, which is cool. But I don't think they should play anything off of albums that are easily available.

i don't mind them playing stuff that's semi-rare, cuz you never know what "newbie" or relatively unseasoned club member it might turn on to albums they might not have otherwise been hipped to. i can also tolerate fairly-well known reflection room choices if they're part of a clever "theme" for the week. but yeah, i agree - for the most part, much of the choices - particularly for the glam slam room - have been nothing but lazy and uninspired.

I think us hardcore fans must understand that there are many members who are casual fans. Not everyone is obsessive like most people here on the org!

Imagine if you were 15 and you only had Purple Rain and SOTT. You got a copy of Musicology from the show that you went to because you liked those two albums. Then you stumble accross www.npgmc.com and think "hell, I might as well join". Then there are all these amazing tracks you never heard before!

You gotta remember too there are some younger fans that are joining this site and the club so what sounds old to those of us who have listened to Prince for years these are brand new to them..So I don't think the 2 rooms are a waste of space.. Altho I wish they would let some real DJ's do some special mixes for the Glam Slam room.. Make it a little more interesting. biggrin

Navigate to the Reflection room and then click the water. A panel with a play button should come up - click play and then you just have to let it cache into memory before it starts playing. After it's finished, you should be able to find it in your Temp Internet files folder.

I see the Reflection room as just a freebie for newbie fans, a sample of Prince's past music to show them what they are missing. If anything really rare went on here, we'd all be complaining because the quality is low (96kbps) and Prince would probably want to charge for something new anyway, and why not?! He's put out plenty of free tracks over the years already.

The Glam Slam room is more for remixes, but they seem to be putting out bits and pieces of the old Ahdio shows from year 1, which again, is cool if you weren't a member back then.

Why should you even care what they do with the room. They can't do everything overthere specifically for you.

What a load of rubbish this argument always is, that someone should not complain or offer an opinion on something unless they can do that same thing equally as well or better.

big grin What tripe.

I can't make cheese but I can still have an opinion on whether my camembert is good or not.

Oh, and fuck you.
