I really don't see anything pre-NPGMC being released anytime soon. I could be wrong. Hopefully I am.

Hasn't he put a lot of music up in the store? We have to remember, not everyone was around for the entire life of the club. He's put a lot of material up there. We only have to absorb Musicology, but there are people who has to catch up on The Slaughterhouse, The Chocolate Invations, The Rainbow Children, NEWS, One Nite Alone. Did I miss anything?

Yeah what he can release probably is endless, but unforunately, I don't think it will happen. Even though all the music for download in the Musicology store is spectacular, Prince seems to like to beat a dead horse with the music on the club. Aside from Magnificent and The Dance, everything available has already been available over the past 3 years from the club. Reflection and What Do You Want Me To Do, is now released on Musicology, so not exclusive after all. And who knows, if the past is an example, Magnificent may even show up on the next album The posting of the Reflection live performace for download leads me to believe that there will be more TV appearances popping up in the future.
It is really a cryin shame he doesn't give us Roadhouse Garden album, or the multitude of other things he has to choose from. It's one thing to promote Musicology through his download store to the general public, ie:Reflection Video, but the members deserve something more, a LOT more. He knows exactly what we all want, but for whatever reason, he is not lettin us have it. I mean what a great opportunity for him to really make his true fans happy that have supported him over the years. He doesnt have to worry about packaging, record companies, distribution, all he has to do is pick a song or album, convert it to WMA format, post it and collect $7.77 or 77cents from us, what could be easier than that, it all just seems sooo SIMPLE! Here's hoping I am wrong, and that he will surpirse us all very soon. I for one, will be very happy if he does. I've heard more than one fan voice the opinion that Prince is scared to open the vault. Purely on the basis that once we have it's best contents in studio quality, that'll be all she wrote, and a lot of folks will jump ship.
I don't know how true that is, but bootlegs have certainly sustained a lot of his supporters through the years. Despite Bootlegs being evil and wrong and all that rubbish. All he has to do is put it to a vote, 'What ten tracks would you like as downloads?' He could do this twice a year or something, it'd make alot of folks really happy.

If this is true, can you blame him? I'd prefer for him to either sprinkle in Vault tracks here and there (on official albums), or offer "Vault Installments" of 2-or-3 song EPs a few times a year. If he DOES choose to release a Crystal Ball 2, I hope he does it more professionally that CB1, with proper liner notes and top-notch artwork. The Roadhouse Garden project will never be released online -- it's too important. It'll be finished and released with a new W&L collaboration. IMO.

The Grateful Dead and Bob Dylan have done really well for themselves by releasing former bootlegs as official albums. They've made entire series out of releasing unedited, restored live gigs and rare outtakes and sessions. I think that's what we all really want.
It is frustrating to always be seeing the glass half empty with Prince. As a fan, I've felt that way for 15 years. From the folding of his old NPG magazine and the Crystal Ball fiasco to the more recent NPGMC 5 album promise and 7 cd Chocolate Invasion stuff. It seems like they are working hard to find ways to do things half assed. That said, Prince is at a high peak in his positive treatment of fans and his online business model. It just seems foolish not to take it to the next level. The level that fans want and someone of his music genius deserves... Positivity Y'all! Yep... I thought of something in the same vein. Maybe voting on 5 tunes a month. Yet I think of it rather to provide the NPGMC with an idea of what is actually in demand. But there are at least two issues to be considered: - P's tendency to do whatever he likes - The time which is needed to technically prepare the tracks for download. So what about voting on five tracks out of a given list... and whatever we go for to be prepared some tracks are substituted by last minute decisions of himself - as long as we get *any* five downloads (or whatever the set number is). Regarding the second issue, most of you might say "hey, just put 'em online, that's all there is to do". This is what I thought of first too... but I'm not so sure anymore. I mean, listen to the downloaded tracks after being burned to CD. I never expected this high quality to be derived from any wma file. There is much pressure and the sound is not to be compared with that from the first download a few years ago - although this has been at 256kps mostly. Ok, the new files are compressed using VBR (variable bit rate) but this is what I did for years with CDs I ripped. And believe me, the result of these files I made being re-compiled and burned to audio CDs doesn't stand the comparison to the new NPGMC files being burned on CD at all. I presume they're actually re-working the tracks to gain high quality after the download. I'd really love to hear some opinions of professional producers or engineers on this issue. If this is true it takes time to prepare the tracks for download. Not as much time as remastering some tracks but quite in the same direction. Wolf

Xpectation. Thank you. It seems everyone is still talking about what they don't have instead of realizing that Prince still has an incredible output of music. A lot of people who didn't get the music from year 1 are getting their requests fulfilled. He can't please everyone all the time. Give the man time and stop depending on him to make your day.

U can always find André Cymone's version, the extended version of it is the same as the boot one (xcept it's André singing). As 4 the rest of the conversation, i think Prince WON'T let us choose or vote (maybe one time, but not every month), & i also think he considers his 90's/2000's stuff much worthy than the 80's stuff, so he releases this 1st... Which can b understood: an artist evolves & it would b sad if P considered his old stuff more interesting than the recent stuff. I also agree that any Revolution project (like Roadhouse Garden) will b released 4 record stores, cuz it WOULD b a big event. Still, i hope he will release @ least 7 or 8 albums every year on WMA !!! This is not impossible cuz if u count every unreleased stuff (mp3, ahdio trax, rave SE, TRC & videos) released in 2001, it almost made an album every month in quantity.
