What if NPGMC was like Hendrix Dagger Records

On the official Hendrix site, they offer live bootleg concert recordings that were never released on the Dagger Records label. I have bought several of them and they are nice. They make sure you understand that it might be mono or incomplete since the sources for alot of it is a tape recorder that someone left near the stage. But it gives you an insight to obscure live gigs that made up the legend of Hendrix. I am sure it takes a bite out of the botleg market as well. Since they are packaged and remastered as well as something of bootleg quality can be, true fans will tend to go for them before risking a higher price tag for lesser quality in the black market.

I was thinking that if NPGMC did something like this, it would have to be a hit. I love the downloads but how hard would it be to offer some full CDs with artwork that you could actually order from some old soundboard concert recordings. If you have heard City Lights, you know what I am talking about. That stuff does exist and it is great! Just a thought

I've asked myself the same question every time I've been to Jimi's site. I wouldn't even mind if Prince bootlegged the bootleggers - imagine him releasing the Neon Rendezvous 1984 rehearsal boot with the same artwork and everything - I'd respect him for that.

Dagger Records is great. I believe that Prince has had conversations with Janie(?) Hendrix while recording Purple House for the Hendrix Tribute. Let's hope that they discussed the popularity of the Dagger CD's.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
