Has anyone from England actually bought the NPGMC downloads successfully?

I have tried and tried, and all I get are error messages. A friend of mine found the same. We've had to go to P2P to get it.

Have many people in England managed to purchase all the downloads without a problem? Is so, any advice?

Yes - no problem here and I know at least 3 other people who have also done so succesfully.

My only advice is - don't use a Mac (well, use one for everything else in your life - just not for this download!) and make sure Windoze, IE and Media Player are updated to their newest versions.

Yes, no problem. Remember, you have to use Windows Media Player 9 and be online when you first play the tracks so that it can acquire a license to play it and then you can only listen to them as mp3s on that particular computer.

Yes.

Downloaded everything with no difficulty. I upgraded as advised beforehand.

(I am on a 56kbps modem, but with unlimited internet access. I downlaod with ReGet to reduce the likelihood of losing a connection and to enable pausing during download so I can resume in the event of a lost connection or having to use the same line for other purposes.)

I managed fine through my work LAN network and a reasonably up to date PC.

I should point out though that I live in Scotland rather than England. Or rather we all live in the UK (shich is how I prefer to put it).

I have everything upgraded and disabled any wirewall. The test file plays fine. I can also buy WMAs from MyCokeMusic Fine...

but with NPGMC, as soon as I enter the address and card details, I get an error, telling me to try again in a few mins. This has happened over and over and over again.

I've tried on different days, and times, still no luck.

Mmmm ... the only thing I can think is that the name and address that you are filing is not being parsed through their site for reconciliation with credit card records held.

I'm sure you'll have checked these, but all i can think is:

1. If you are an NPGMC member, do your NPGMC details match those you are posting (in case they match those up for some reason - doubtful, I admit)

2. Make sure you post the exact title on your credit card e.g. MR S MEAT or SQUIRREL MEAT smile

3. I post my street number, street and village in the first address line, and the town in the City Address line. I do not post details of county, leaving the State and Zip Code boxes I change the country line to UK and I post my postcode without gaps in the International Postcode line. (I do not send a telephone number.)

Yes, no problem. Remember, you have to use Windows Media Player 9 and be online when you first play the tracks so that it can acquire a license to play it and then you can only listen to them as mp3s on that particular computer.

What do you mean only listen to them as mp3 on the same computer?????

I am from England I purchased and downloaded without any issues, then burnt the wma files onto cd with Media Player 9 and then ripped the Audio CD to mp3, and then you can listen to the mp3's on any computer, mp3 files haver no copy protection!!!!

the wma files have protection and you can listen to them on any computer but you need to enter your npgmc username and password on another computer.

Yeah, I meant as .wma's on the same computer. I didn't know you could enter your password on another computer and still play the files. Of course you can burn them to cd and then rip them back as mp3s, but apparently that is technically illegal since you are circumventing the protection... not that I'm bothered personally, like.

It's not illegal. Quite simply, the license that you purchased / were granted with the downloads allows you to burn those downloads to CD. The resulting CD has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with DRM/DMCA, is not protecvted and you may do with as you see fit, as long as you stay within "fair use" limitations. The term "illegal" is being bandied around without exploring the facts. The DMCA makes it illegal to circumvent DRM/CP. When you burn to disc, as allowed by your license, you are not circumventing the copy protection, but using it in the correct way. If you used a program to directly convert the file, that would be in violation. It's the same as DVD regions. Movies are encoded with protection so that they may be played ONLY in the region they were intended (the same as the limitation of not transfering to a portable device for the downloads). If you try to play a DVD in a (non hacked) player from a different region, the protection in both the player and disc prevent you from doing so. When you play it in a player from the correct region, the software/firmware in the player recognises that it is allowed, and thus lets it play. You can directly relate this to the license being interpreted in WMP as allowing to burn the files to disc. Or is it being suggested that the DVD player and it's firmware are in violation of the DMCA?

I would check your credit card account that you are not being charged "over and over and over again" as that is what happened to me.

NPGMC gave me this responce when i brought it to their attention.....

"Dear NPGMC User,

We apologize for the inconvenience. Quite a few people clicked to purchase
several times or repurchased the same cart. We are automatically refunding
these duplicate purchases, and have made changes to the software to warn you
of duplicate purchases in the future.

These charges will be automatically refunded.

NPGMC Support "

And have you checked under "Your Account" on the "Mixer Desk"?
Money didn't matter last night....but it sure does matter 2day!
