The Chocolate Invasion & Slaughterhouse

Before I buy these two online, can anybody tell me if the rumour is true about some of the songs being extended versions of the previously available songs from the club? I've been a member since the very beginning, so i already have all these songs. But if they are extended... I'll buy it. I might still buy just for "The Dance", which is a new track i guess. So, anybody out there buy these yet and can answer me for sure?

I am getting anyway. I have all that stuff from the earlier editions of the club but I do want to hear The Dance and I figure $7 is not even lunch money. This way I dont miss out. Besides, C NOTE I got for free when someone shared the links on NPGMC in here. It was not offered to the US members.

This is what I see on Chocolate Invasion, comparing track lengths. Some differ by just a few seconds, so I considered them the same....

When I Lay My Hands On U - same
Judas Smile - same
Supercute - same
Underneath the Cream - same
Sex Me, Sex Me Not - longer
Vavoom - longer
High - same
The Dance - new
Gamillah - shorter
U Make My Sun Shine - longer

Holy crap -- here's what an idiot I am...I bought this album and didn't even check the length of the other tracks...I only bought it for The Dance, which I didn't have. Gotta check this out. smile

Sex Me Sex Me Not is about 1:15 longer with additional lyrics and VERY different mix toward the end ("C'mon Prince don't do me like that! Sex me what? Sex me - uh!")

Vavoom is about :30 longer. Same basic feel, just a bit longer.

U Make My Sun Shine is about 1:10 longer with an exteded "Soul vocal" ending...don't know how to describe it, but it's nice.

Oh - and I was wrong, Gamillah isn't REALLY shorter, it's just that the track I encoded from the CD has about 10 seconds of silence at the end, while the download one cuts off with the music at 3:09.

"Chastity" over @ Housequake:

Hi all,

With the new NPMGC Musicology store there has been a lot of questions about some of the releases. Especially "The Chocolate Invasion" and "The Slaughter House" as it seems that these is previously released tracks through NPGMC.

This is not the case though.

To help all out in this period I made this thread with comparisons. I´ll even make the thread a (temporary) Sticky for quick references. First coming up is a comparison between tracks and timings. Next coming up details on the differences... musically and lyric wise.

Thanks to DawnUnder for the cooperation on this.

And of of course: All are invited to participate and comment.

Comparing The Chocolate Invasion and The Slaughter House tracks with previous releases:

01: WhenEyeLayMyHandsOn U

- No difference. Same track. On the new track the difference in timing is all up to a silence lead-out on 4 seconds.

02: JudasSmile

- slightly different. There may be more differences, but at the 4:45 mark, after Prince sings, 'those are the wages of a fool', there is a prominent synthesizer part not present in the original.

03: SuperCute

- No difference. Same track. On the new track the difference in timing is all up to a silence lead-out on 3 seconds.

04: Underneath The Cream

- No difference. Same track. On the new track the difference in timing is all up to a silence lead-out on 1 second.

05: Sex Me Sex Me Not

- Same beginning but then there´s a new arrangement. Maybe even lyrics I think. The tracks are fairly alike up till 2:17 where there´s new rap lyrics. And also more synth is added. The arrangement changes and and after 4:16 there's new part starting with "Come on Prince dont leave it like this". Here the music changes slightly with more instruments added and a complete new arrangment, more bass, additional synth sample and some "scratches". Some high treble can be heard like a test signal. There´s then more new lyrics with more references to "The Chocolate Invasion".

06: Vavoom

- Has extra loops of the chant "Va-va-voom" from 4:01-4:25. Didn´t notice anything else

07: High

- No difference. Same track. On the new track the difference in timing is all up to a silence lead-out on 3 seconds.

08: The Dance

- Previously unreleased

09: Gamillah

- No difference. Same track. On the new track the difference in timing is all up to a silence Lead-in 2 seconds lead-out on 5 seconds.

10: U Make My Sun Shine

- There´s the difference that this appears to be the full song while the previous released one on NPGMC was simpy cut at 5:52. There´s also 6-7 extra seconds in the original file. Could be a matter of speed though.

-----

The Slaughter House:

01: Silicon

- The orginal is longer than the new track. But basically the original track is only longer with some looped lyrics and beats at the end with "dance on the funk". The "new" tracks is also edited where 2:30 - 2:40 has been cut. Guess because of the explicit lyrics.

02: SM Groove

- Again basically the same track. Although the original is somewhat longer. But there´s no alternate arrangements or lyrics. The orginal track has been cut short some places. There´s missing some guitar from app. 2:20 till 2:35. There's an explosion noise at 3:26 as the guitar solo begins. And then there´s a longer cut at the end from app. 4:30-4:50. It sounds like there has been smaller edits other places too. But it´s "only" music being edited out.

03: WhyShouldEyeDoThat

- No difference. Same track. On the new track the difference in timing is all up to a silence lead-out on 4 seconds.

04: Golden Parachute

- The same track except for the beginning where there´s a hihat and a subtle sax in the background.

05: HypnoParadise

- No difference. Same track.

06: PropsNPounds

- No difference. Same track. On the new track the difference in timing is all up to a silence lead-out on 1 second.

07: Northside

- No difference. Same track. On the new track the difference in timing is all up to a silence lead-out on 1 second.

08: Peace

- No difference. Same track.

09: 2045 Radical Man

- No difference. Same track. On the new track the difference in timing is all up to a silence lead-out on 2 seconds.

10: The Daisy Chain

- No difference. Same track. On the new track the difference in timing is all up to a silence lead-out on 1 second. And then again there´s an extra loop of the music at 4:10 in the new version.

So as seen above maybe not that many alternate or extended versions.
There could be more differences than we have provided here.

Everything else seems to be correct

Guess I'll call it a night & try to get 9-10 hrs sleep before my shift starts tonight.

I downloaded TCI, but not TSH.. For me, a sax intro on Golden Parachute and an edited down version of Silicon, was not enough change 4 me to buy it..I took my Year 1 downloads(better quality anyways) and made a CDR with the same tracklisting as TSH... I 'm very happy with it, so no need to download TSH..

There's a few more minor differences than that, but for the most part.. their very simular to the previos released ones..I did it cause I took mine off the computer long ago.. and actually needed them. so Im pleased.. and to be quite honest, it seems like the soundquality of these files are much more clear than the previous ones.. top notch quality.
