Once I obtained the licence via Windows Media Player, I used Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 and ticked the 'Disc at Once' option when burning to disc. There's no break between the songs then, It works a treat.

So there's really no way to eliminate the 2-second gap between songs on Microsoft's own player? What kinda shit is that?

I just burnt it with roxio easy cd creator 5, and it IS better, but still has maybe a quarter second to half a second pause. This was done disc at once as well sad
DMighten, does yours not have this gap??? If not then I've missed something.

Is heaps better than the track at once gap though!

Yeah but the break is soooo slight you don't really notice it (except once I guess). On the whole it works fine.

Or you could figure out how to do it Lovesexy style. As annoying as that is.

Don't know how w/ WMP but whenever I have a spacing issue I burn it back to my hard drive using Nero & select "remove silences", then burn it again on Nero - usually works pretty well...

I burnt the disc, then ripped that back to mp3's, stuck those in my illegal copy Cool Edit Pro 2(Courtesy of Kazaalite) and cut the silences of the MP3's and reburnt the mp3's in Nero to CD, voila! No gap perfection.

And yes it was as tedious as it sounds! lol

not only that, you lost a lot of quality in the WMA -> CD -> MP3 -> MP3 -> CD conversions

WMP9 is limited in its CD burning options. You would probabbly have to first burn it to CD with WMP9, then re-rip that CD back to your hard drive in WAV format, then re-burn it to CD with a commercial application such as Nero or Roxio. Both offer you the option of removing or inserting a pause between tracks. If the delay is built into the track itself, then you will have to manually cut it off the track in a program like CoolEdit (now known as Adobe Audition).

Tass: Easy CD Creator has an option for 'transitions'. Use this to create a 'crossfade' between the tracks that have that horrible gap. It's so annoying to me that they uploaded the files with these gaps!

WavTrim automatically removes any silence at the beginning or the end of a track.
You just copy the CD to your hard disk and open all files at once. That's all. You have nothing else to do but burn them again with a software that adds no gaps.

I don't know if anyone has noticed but once you burn them in wmp9 the volume of the tracks is really lowered so therefore sound a lot quieter than the original wma files...

I burnt to CD, then ripped the CD to wav, edited the wav's in SoundForge, taking the gaps from start and finnish and then normalised all the tracks to make a perfect CD (Well almost perfect)

Just my 2 cents worth.

Burning them at a lower volume and then re-normalizing them to peak volume will cause you to lose some definition with the softer sounds.

Microsoft has an "official" but unsupported (read: developed and released by Microsoft's backhouse monkeys) plug-in for Windows Media Player 9 for Windows XP that allows you to turn off the automatic volume leveling when burning a CD. It may also work for other versions of Windows, as there is a notice on the site: " * Note: Functionality may be limited on OSes other than Windows XP. See partner site for details." But, of course, I've found no details. It's actually a well-constructed plug-in with good user ratings -- the monkeys were well trained this time.

WMP9 usually normalizes all of the files before burning, so that all your tracks end up close in volume. As a result, I have found the CDs of the NPGMC tracks to be very quiet as compared to others, normalized at -6dB peak. This plug-in, called TweakMP, will allow you to disable the automatic volume leveling. The NPGMC files are already mastered to have generally the same 'loudness', so I haven't found the need for any volume leveling. It sounds much better without it.

Download from:

http://www.wmplugins.com/...ItemID=171

Just download and install. Then open WMP and go to Tools menu > Plug-ins > TweakMP. When the TweakMP window pops up, go to the CD tab and uncheck the box that reads: "Automatically level the volume of files when copying to an audio CD". Close the window and the setting should stick for future use, unless you add another CD drive to your computer. Now just burn your audio CDs as usual.

well i ripped them back to MP3 @ 320Kbps, that's the best quality i could do it to. I suppose it'll do til i get my hands on the released CD. shrug
