Well, that's just bloody F&@*ing great! This from Chastity @ Housequake.com
Hi All, there seems to be a lot of questions and problems regarding the new files for download from NPGMC. Let´s keep the questions and answers here in this Sticky. /Chastity BUT NOTE: Get the NEWEST version of WMP 9. Make sure your CD burner supports DRM. Some older drives doesn´t. And yes I know that when the actual burning is processed the DRM packaging of the files are gone. But when WMP 9 is converting the files it´s using the license AND checking with the burner to see if it´ll work. And it won´t in that case. So you´ll get an error "License does not allow to burn to CD" or something similar. You might compare this tricky little effect with trying to burn an audio CD and telling Nero (or your software) to write Text on the CD. It will surely fail if the burner doesn´t support text writing. In that case you can also get some error messages not connected to the real problem. One last warning: This is proprietary Microsoft standard. And it gets even more tricky when they are making packages with WMP 9 audio files encapsulated in DRM. So only use the recommended software. as my PC is approaching it's third birthday, i guess that's why i can't burn the files then. Nice of the NPGMC to warn that part in bold might happen. As it is i can't even play the files tonight in WMP9, as i apparently have a license problem. Brilliant! I played Musicology last night with no problems though. No more downloads for me while they retain this stupid file format. The Fact Mods over at the NPGMC are advising to rip it to CD and rip back to MP3 to play it in I-Pods makes a mockery of the whole sorry exercise. Most annoyed. I'm unable to burn the songs with Media Player too... And it ruins the CD at the same time. Piece of crap.
I'm not downloading anymore songs either. This is shite. Time to look for the tracks on some peer 2 peer network. Hey, I paid for this so shag off.

WHOA THERE!!! The mods actually advised that? Can anyone confirm this? Marrk, when did this happen and what were the cirumstances surrounding it? That would indeed make a complete mockery of the DRM aspect of the store. Which, you know, is probably a good thing...it's what happened with the club Year 1, remember? They tried to use their own homemade proprietary player except you could ONLY listen to the files through that player, and it didn't work very well. Within a few months they were offering mp3s. Shitty quality, but still. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

Just all convert ur files back in2 MP3, put'em on P2P's, & anonymously tell NPGMC u did it. Maybe then they'll understand how useless that shit is & come back 2 the ol' MP3 thing ! This shit is gonna make us go mad with technical problems & this is why i don't wanna hear about it !!!
