Musicology room

Is anybody expecting the musicology room to contain anything more than the tracks from the album when it opens?

There seems to be a buzz about the possibilities, which of course are massively promising, but considering how little the club has lived up to it's potential so far, is it reasonable to expect more than the album?

I would love to see vault tracks and other new recordings, and I know that it's not open yet and that we must wait and see, but I have a nasty feeling that we are gonna get more of the minimum. I really hope that feeling is indigestion.
RIP sad

I think Anxiety's got it right...maybe a couple advance tracks from Musicology that we'll buy later in better quality and in a different format. Or maybe receive free with our concert ticket! wink

NPGLOVER

It will be live tracks from the tour - probably this LA gig from the simulcast since every nerd and his mother will bootleg it after Mar 29. NPGMC can strategically thwart the parasites. THey have not seized most of the opportunities to do so in the past.

i'm expecting a purple room with a purple room, a tacky purple couch, a Seimen's rug (in the shape of a stain) on the floor, and Wayne Brady copping a squat on an ottoman in the middle of the room.

Just caught this call out on the signup page of NPGMC:

"COMING SOON:
The MUSICOLOGY STORE will have
all the latest music from PRINCE & the NPG
and MEMBERS pay over 20% LESS
than non-members PER DOWNLOAD.
The more U download, the more U save!"

Sounds like the vault will remain sealed.

Yeah, I'm not sure where people got the idea it was gonna be Vault tracks...wishful thinking, I suppose...and who could blame them?

While I'm excited about the new music as well, it would sure be great to actually utilize those stupid Vault rooms and put some classic unreleased shit in there. I truly will never understand why he doesn't do this.

But whatever. I have a feeling it's just gonna be Musicology, so that the whole world can hear it on release day, you know what I mean? After that? Who knows. It would sure be swell if some of the millions this tour's gonna make got pumped into the club - and hey, maybe it could pay the manufacturing costs for TCI. wink

Anxiety

I'd wager Prince is holding off on officially releasing vault stuff because he wants to use that material as a bargaining chip with whatever label he winds up with...of course, the world isn't going to come to a stop because Prince has a bunch of old unreleased material, but I'm sure in HIS mind it's a purple goldmine, and for a label considering a 46-year-old music legend, all those vault tracks would be awfully nice as part of a catalog re-release collection...

Vault material that we all know and love, and then some, will NEVER be released. Ever.

The "latest music" could mean anything in the Club's book.

The 20% discount probably means that the normal prices are ridiculous, as usual with the club, making the discount price perhabs somewhat reasonable (but why would they need to offer a discount anyway if they could just ask a normal price?).

Most fans will be fooled to join again, because of the discount and the download more, save more promotion, which in reality will mean they are going to give you a choice:

Either you swallow the NPGMC's - probably draconic- "license 2 listen" coupled to a nasty severe form of DRM, with of course that fantastic discount of 20%, OR...

you get nothing.

The prices were already announced. It's .77 per download for members and .99 per download for non members. The "20%" comment is just another way of putting it. I don't understand the problem with DRM at all. The files can be burned to CDR with no problem and if you absolutely HAVE to put it on your stupid iPod, you can do the same fucking thing you do with other albums not available on CD or through iTunes or whatever. Transfer it via analog.
