I think a random seat assignment is perfect. People tend to stand in line all day only to have very rude people cut in line with their friends. This way it would be fair for everyone.

Well I know the person who "randomly" handed out the tickets for the first celebration and let me just tell you that they weren't quite random
oops...were / weren't have different meaning. [This message was edited Fri Feb 20 7:01:41 2004 by lovemachine]

I can't help but suspect these assignments may be "preferentially" random.

I along with a few others were worried about possible pref. treatment of seat assignments here at the 2 Hawaii shows...I can with all honesty say that I don't believe that any of us 20-25 members got a better seat because of "knowing someone." I heard about the Celebration favortism but I don't think that wilol come in2 play at these other venues...On the other hand, seat assignment was extremly jacked up! As I stated be4 we had members who flew in from other countries that ended up in the 13th row. Mind U it was 13th row center but it's not right to have so many drunken fools who are not mebers in front of U...In Honolulu, we had maybe 6 people in the front row and in Maui, only 2 lucky people...And with so many non members in the front sections that is exactly why the stage got rushed by so many drunken fools in Maui!!!There was easily over a 100 folks on that stage and security was stunned...I know of one member (Hey Peggy) who actually had to help Takumi protect the guitars from the mad rush...Prince, U gotta keep your members close to because as corny as it sounds, they are your friends...We all (99% of us) have a lot of respect 4 Prince and that show reafirmed this fact...Respecting/protecting Prince and his security is one positive aspect of having the members all at the front but from our standpoint, we should have all of the seats starting from the first row until the last members ticket...Spreading us all over the place with complete randomness as to when we purchased our ticket is going to cause a lot of problems and heartache with membership...I know that I will not fly a couple of thousand miles only to end up 13 rows from the stage surrounded by a bunch of Purple Rain posers...There doesn't need 2 be a soundcheck to allow members the first few rows as long as U insist with the promoters of each venue...Vegas was a great example of this and it can still be done even with assigned seating...Heck The ONA shows in LA worked just fine...First 15 rows general seating 4 members and than assigned seating 4 non members...Have your people do the work and it'll save a lot of time fixing the problems later on...Sorry 4 ranting and what I'm sure are a few misspelled words but this was a big problem in Hawaii and it'll get worse in the areas with larger membership...Aloha~

I was at the Honolulu show & agree with everything wishuhvn said.
I ended up in the 8th row & was a little annoyed that there were people in the 7th row that haven't bought a Prince album since Purple Rain! Not only that but Blackwell threw out a stick & guess who caught it? 7th row Purple Rain Poseurs!!!! OK.....now I sound like a little baby.

I was one of the people who had those ramdon tickets one nite was row 13 and the other was 2nd row next to Takumi. the other point I would like to point out is that when you do travel to different show we fans get to know each other and enjoy each others company. (Hey Tony)
Its funny when you see us all come together and all the love that is shown. ya want to be with your friends that you know enjoy the show as much as you do.
