Do You Guys Think the NPG Site Folks Would Help Out With This?

During my recent switchover to a new PC, I ended up LOSING one of the songs from the Xpectation album! I get everything into the new system before emptying the old hard drive and I find that Xpand is an empty, non-track! I've lost my favorite song on the album!

Do you think there's ANY way that the NPGMC folks would help out with this? Or am I hopelessly lost?

I don't think they'll help, but try asking one of the members.

"Help" and "NPGMC" don't belong in the same dictionary, let alone the same page.

Thats sorta like saying you bought an out of print CD from the store and scratched it, and it wont play your favorite track.

Yeah - they kinda said the same thing to me. My PC crashed towards teh end of year 1 and I lost all of the files, I managed to get a few back before the year ran out but, despite signing up for Year 2, access to teh Year 1 files was gone and they said I no longer had any right to them if I didnt already own them (that included Kazza/Napster downloads...obviously). I suppose that is fair enough although it doesnt make it anymore pleasent.

Well you did own them by subscribing to the club didn't you? You just couldn't access them anymore on your pc, due to a crash, right? While I agree that anyone can make up such a story and ask for a new copy, the NPGC could have easily checked if you were a paying member and bought the right to acces these songs (as it is written down in the membership agreement). But alas, no doubt the NPGC folks couldn't care less as long as they were paid.

Nah - they say,and I suppose it make sense, you only have rights to those trax during the years membership. So once Yaer 1 was over so were the rights to those trax.

I can see tehir point, if you bought a CD and got it scratched, you wouldnt expect teh record store to give you a new one.

The latter point makes sense, but you didn't buy a CD, you bought files and the right to acces them. Big difference, considering they could easily provide you with a link to download again (no costs are involved with that)

The first point makes no sense, because if it's true that you only had rights to those songs during the first year all first year members would not have any right to these songs anymore, which you would agree would be unfair, no?

I'm only guessing here, but I have two theories in mind right now.
Either they don't have records of who's been a member that year, and thus cannot prove you have the right for those trax. or mayby cannot confirm you are that member.

Or...allowing you to download the songs again is the same as serving you again, with something that is no longer on the menu.

In that case, as Moderators I doubt they would help, but as members and fellow fans, they should be kind enough to do so.

I had the same problem, I had a hacker problem and had to reformat my pc so I lost everything from year 1 on. I should have saved everything before my cd burner died but a lesson learned I guess.
Anyhow the point is no one will help. I would if I could, sorry man
