Listen, why all the DISCOMFORT? Prince did Something Really EXCITING! REALLY SPONTANEOUS and Really MYSTERIOUS. DID anybody DREAM he would do a MINI CONCERT? Listen,Prince does what he Feels and that's So Cool! You all that saw it are Truly Lucky Folks and should count your Lucky Stars cause this isn't Something he does Everyday. This was a Special Treat for You ALL! BE Happy! biggrin

I want to be clear. I think it's cool what Prince has been doing lately. And it's cool that he is thinking of how to make things better. I just had to laugh about these specific things he mentioned. It's all so unreal and I have become very sceptical of any future events announce by Prince and the NPGMC. So I just had to laugh when I read it.

Man, are all Orgers negative, whiny mofos?

I'm assuming those who are complaining that nothing was announced during this Press Party were not even there. It would be the only way to explain getting a 45 minute concert absolutely free!

I can't understand how some so-called fans can't see that there's two versions of Prince out there... there's the one that we know and there's the one that the rest of the world knows. We know he's been on tour in the past six years. We know he'll perform his hits again (he even admitted it himself during the Q&A). We know he's got a new CD coming out. The press conference wasn't for us (but that mini-concert certainly was)!

The way I see it, the way I think Prince explained it during the Q&A, is that on his most recent tours, the press/media/non-NPGMC members have complained that he didn't play this song or that song. So he's announcing, to those people, if that's you want, well then here it is. This is your last chance. After this, I'm doing whatever the hell I want.

I don't know about anyone else, but I've seen that stuff so many times already that I'd rather him play his "new children" (actually I'd just rather see him & the NPG jam for hours on end). But like he said yesterday, for those of us who are NPGMC members, who have seen these songs countless times before, he's going to update all the hits so we get something new as well.

The mini-show at the Press Party was tight! I saw both the Vegas and L.A. House of Blues shows, and the versions of Sign of the Times and Question of U/The One/Fallin' are infinitely better than they were a few weeks ago. This should be a really fun tour. The big show with all the hits for the masses, and then the aftershows with all the jams for the real fans...

Which one are you negative Orgers? As far as I can see, there's absolutley nothing to complain about...

Then let me explain it:
People expected something firm in relation to a new cd.
A release date.
Something to look forward to.
Thats all I wanted out of the press party.

Sure a little mini-concert was nice
but I work at a desk in Pennsylvania
& in no way am I getting anything out of that press party in California.

I didn't read the account of the press party & think "Great - a new cd in mid-june."
Instead I'm thinking "Gods know when this will ever be released."

Prince has always liked to keep the fans guessing & wondering.
Yesterdays press party was just more of the same.
Only with a mini-concert thrown in.

He said he wants to give the ticket buyers a free copy of Musicology bult into the ticket price so if the opening date is March 29 (in Los Angeles), then isn't the release date March 29th?

I don't think I love him, nor his teasing. I love most of his music tho'.

THANK YOU!!!

I personally found the press release boring since I already 'knew' what he announced, but then I immediately realized I wasn't the target audience of the press release, none of us were!

I can only imagine how ugly this place would be right now if P said "don't tell the NPGMC about this press release, they already know about it" and we read the reports in the mainstream press instead of the Org and the NPGMC. People would've pitched fits. So, he includes the Club and people are still let-down and pissed.

rolleyes whatevs

lol in the end all, I wouldn't expect ANYTHING else from this place...

U r so right! I was pretty disappointed by the pres conference myself but it's true that peeps would be very unhappy if we had to hear about it from the press. I'm just bummed because NPGMC said there would be "major" announcements - a tour and an album aren't really "major" in my book considering that's what the man does. Oh well, I'm still going to see him when he comes to SF (just saw him last week!) so I'm happy!
