The opening screen of the NPG Music Club site has been changed to "what is musicology? find out march 29th". Nothing else that I can see.
That's a Monday, incidentally...which could be a worldwide CD release date as opposed to a (Tuesday) US one.

From:
http://www.prince.org/msg/7/81876 Clubkid said: Very cool of Prince to do that... He opened by performing Musicology, then did a 15 min. or so speech/Q&A.... announced the tour (a world tour, then back again), the new album (which is in negotiations to be distributed by EVERY record label), a 77 cent per song downloading system thru the NPGMC (no specifics... damn!), discussed the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, some festivals that he'll be playing (Essence), and that he's gonna retire the hits after this tour for a bit to make room for some new stuff.
then he played (in no particular order): Kiss, Take Me With U, Sign O The Times, Question Of U/The One/Fallin' and Let's Work. He brought a bunch of people to dance on stage, he was funky as hell for it being 11.30 in the morning. Then he left and they showed the full video to "Musicology." Discuss.....

Usually I would agree that we get ourselves too excited only to be let down by our own expectations ...but I think Prince has to take the blame for some of it this time.
I mean why have a press conference just to anounce a tour and a new album...let alone invite fans along - isnt the club meant to be the place for these type of things ....why go to all the fuss of whipping up this excitment just to hold a press conference for a tour - he toured hundreds of time but never had to make this song and dance baout it before. DOnt get me wrong Im excited about a tour and, being an NPGMC memebr for the 3rd year, I am sure they cant mess up this time and I will get my tickets. Its just that the phrase "You can polish a turd" comes to mind [This message was edited Tue Feb 24 14:49:49 2004 by purpledoveuk]

Merely announcing tour dates on the club isn't gonna fill an arena. He will probably be pushing this tour alot more in the press than he did in the recent past. Coupled with the new album, shopping for a label, the tv performances, 20th anniversary of PR, new professionally shot video, etc... he's obviously making an overall push for the mainstream again. The press conference had little to do with getting us excited, it was more about the general public who only knows he is still alive cause of the Grammy performance.

THANK YOU!!! I personally found the press release boring since I already 'knew' what he announced, but then I immediately realized I wasn't the target audience of the press release, none of us were! I can only imagine how ugly this place would be right now if P said "don't tell the NPGMC about this press release, they already know about it" and we read the reports in the mainstream press instead of the Org and the NPGMC. People would've pitched fits. So, he includes the Club and people are still let-down and pissed. whatevs in the end all, I wouldn't expect ANYTHING else from this place...

I was pretty disappointed by the pres conference myself but it's true that peeps would be very unhappy if we had to hear about it from the press. I'm just bummed because NPGMC said there would be "major" announcements - a tour and an album aren't really "major" in my book considering that's what the man does. Oh well, I'm still going to see him when he comes to SF (just saw him last week!) so I'm happy!

Okay, okay....I don't understand why U all R dissappointed. The press conference was off da hook! Prince and the NPG played on stage.....a sneak peek on what 2 expect on the Musicology tour. He had a question and answer session and did announce we would be able 2 see the Musicology in full that day, after the band came out and jammed. It was truly enjoyable 2 all that were present. It was a mini concert.....4 free!! Holding someone is truly believing, there's Joy In Repitition

Listen,Prince does what he Feels and that's So Cool! You all that saw it are Truly Lucky Folks and should count your Lucky Stars cause this isn't Something he does Everyday. This was a Special Treat for You ALL! BE Happy!
