This causes some people to either freak out and question his religious beliefs, sincerity, views on racism, blah, blah, blah or pretend like it never happened. I believe the two individuals were poking fun at those who take Prince so seriously. I don't think they were "yokels" those are 2 pretty intelligent dudes, imo.
"bla bla bla"? So we shouldn't take Prince seriously when he speaks of: "long haired barbaric Europeans wallowing in their own bigotry, while the Moors were truly free"? Okay! So I guess it's okay for The Moors, but not the European "bigots" to: "sire 888 children (548 sons and 340 daughters) through a harem of 500 women" "have mosques off-limits to non-Muslims" "[be]inspired by the decadence of King Louis XIV of France" "[have an]empire [that]spread from present day Algeria to Mauritania" "[be] well known for [] legendary cruelty. "intimidate rival tribles" "order that city walls be adorned with 10,000 heads of slain enemies" "[have] 30,000 people die within 20 years of rule" "enlist over 25,000 Christian prisoners and 30,000 common criminals as laborers in the construction of [a] city" "[have] over 16,000 slaves captured from sub-Saharan Africa to serve in [an] elite Black Guard" " develop [a] powerful army by supplying black African slaves with women, then raising the children as soldiers" A Moorish ruler is still hailed for this "greatness". Yeah, I guess we shouldn't take Prince seriously. Not seriously at all... -- [This message was edited Wed Feb 4 3:42:45 PST 2004 by Abrazo] Well I'm not European so that statement didn't offend me. And what period in Moorish and European history was Prince referring to? Moulay Ismail was a very recent ruler, in power at the same time as King Louis XIV. I think Prince was referring to ancient Moorish rule in his song, when Europeans were still in the Dark Ages.

I noticed a long time ago when the club opened that the rooms they where using where from reality places and mentioned this when the club first opened as i have actually visited a few of these places. I also researched at that time where the other places where and decided against posting this info at the time as not to cause to much controversy. As the months rolled by others started saying they noticed as well, so i decided to post cause i actually did think people would enjoy the history behind some off these places. I was going to do one room a week, not to upset anyone just because i enjoy history and architecture, yet i think its best i do not as it seems to upset some. To me History is the past (lessons to be learned), today is the future, never bring the past to the future as the present day you can only change, the past you can not. Hope i haven’t confused anyone . [This message was edited Wed Feb 4 13:34:33 PST 2004 by katt]

I know] that's what they were trying to do, but I don't understand it. How is Prince's sanctimonious "holier-than-thou" attitude not consistent with him writing something like "Moors in Spain" or using a Muslim tomb as one of his rooms? The tomb is probably just random, because the designer of the site didn't have much of an imagination, so they just jacked places they could find pictures of online. As for the "Moors in Spain," that's some of the most sickening "holier-than-thou"ism I've seen Prince exhibit...this side of The Christ, anyway. And I disagree...them some straight-up ignorant yokels. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.
