Here's the description from the auction of the Xpectation boot:

"On 1 January, 2003 Prince released Xpectation through his NPG Music Club. This was released exclusively to members of his club and was never made available to music outlets. The recording consists of 9 jazz inspired instrumental tracks.

Several days later, Prince began an online version of musical "hide and seek" with a few more tracks being made available at various links through emails to various club members. The tracks (Copenhagen, Nagoya, Osaka, Tokyo, and Empty Room) became known as "C-NOTE" since club membership dues were $100.

This auction is for The Complete Collection of all 14 songs. This is a must have for any Prince fan who missed out on that year's membership."

Hell...that's WAAAY more effort and interesting information than the NPGMC would ever provide with a release...we're lucky to find out who played on a given track.

It's money that a fan is earning back on having to shell out bucks on crap like 1999:TNM and NPS. And if someone is lazy/dumb/naive/whatever enough to shell out the bucks for a bootleg verion of Xpectation, then caveat emptor, baby.

Sure, it's illegal and sure, NPGMC has every right to demand a halt to it, but the only damn thing that's gonna stop it is having the official product available to the fans who want it, cuz fans might prefer the official version, but at the end of the day we are gonna get what we want by whatever means we can, and we ALL know that's the one and only truth of the matter - no "opinion" about it, it's just the way it is, period.

The only answer is that it is a copy of Xpectation which was made avalaible for download for maybe one month lastyear when the Club once again fyucked up, but tried to do things right to lure people in for anopther year.

So the Club can make promises that

their "CONtent" ...

is exclusive/ members only

and have their members PAY more for it than in stores...

but their CONtent may not be sold and distributed outside the club by a PAYING member...

Just out of curiosity, what if someone put up an auction for a USED CD-R on eBay, and the description just happens to state that all of C-NOTE and Xpectation were burned on the item? I mean, you know, maybe someone needs a used CD-R for whatever reason, who are we to judge the needs of the consumer?
