I am thoroughly disappointed in the chat room there now because of this fiasco.And to clarify-if you arent going 2 join in on bible study on sundays-your discussions should happen in pm.What the hell is going on over there??? That is NOT cool.Several people were booted for being 'wise'-i came close-i was insulted by a moderator for god's sake<-pun intended.I shall never go in on a sunday again if its going to be that way.It's bullshit.

You know, thinking about this, I've come to an interesting conclusion:

WHO CARES?

I mean, really. Think about it in a different direction. I have. Or at least I've tried to.

Take someone like Moby. He has his own site, in which he spouts all his beliefs and he has fans who gobble it up, maybe because they actually AGREE with him, maybe because they're fans and they want to be "down" with him, and maybe because they just want to be sycophants for the sake of getting an autographed block of tofu or some shit. But if you were a fan of Moby's and the dude wanted to hold a chat about veganism, and you love nothing more in life than to sit down in front of a big, bloody, steaming hot steak, are you really going to feel betrayed or genuinely peeved that your musical hero wants to talk shop about something important to him with fans of a like mind (or whatever), or are you just gonna shrug it off and think "eh, it's not for me," and forget about it?

I mean, if I said I was gonna get some people together to play Monopoly, and you don't happen to like playing Monopoly, are you gonna be pissed off at me personally for choosing a game to play with folks that you don't like? I just wanna play a damn board game, ya know? And hopefully some other folks wanna get into it too, and if you don't, well, maybe sometime I'll break out Aggrivation or Risk and maybe that'll be more to your liking. Or maybe I won't. But you're more than welcome to put something together that appeals to your own interests.

And I should pause here for a second - I'm not coming down on ANYone for their POV regarding this "Bible Study" stuff - I'm just playing a bit of devil's advocate here to see what'll come flying back at me in response.

I DO think that Prince should start a sister site, or have an extra "room" built into NPGMC that focuses on his religious interests - after all, the "allure" of this site is that we're paying to belong to a MUSIC club centered around someone who has created a specific musical legacy. If it were the NPG Kingdom Hall, I doubt I'd have much interest in plunking down $25. This past year of the NPGMC has been an unfocused mess in my opinion, and yeah, part of it has been due to an alienation I've felt in a "us vs. them" mentality between those who claim to subscribe to Prince's ideologies vs. those who just wanna hear some dang music and maybe discuss the music we enjoy.

But if the dude wants to use his site to promote his interests, I may not be interested nor may I be crazy about the direction in which he's taking his website, but I guess I'm having a hard time seeing it as an affront. Is it?

...I have never even seen u in one of the bible studies so how can u possibly say what their directive is? You always talk about people opening their minds but it seems the ones that think they minds are open are the ones that walk into something with their minds already made up about what is happening. I have never seen them try to recruit someone into becoming a JW...it is a discussion about the bible and that is it...and the only people that ever bring in Prince or the JW aspect is when someone with a closed mind comes in talking about people are being brainwashed...check yourself then judge others...because no one is perfect including those who think they are...as a matter of fact they are the ones that need the most work...

In reality if Prince did not "share" his beliefs with fams or fans there would be angry folk. The real scary thing about "this" site is that a lot of people truly worship and idolize Prince even after countless of times he tells people that he does not want this. Prior to being a baptised J.W. he was telling people "love is God, God is love"! And reading many comments all I see is hate and bitterness. How is that mentality going to re-capture Prince even "if" he had some second guessing on his faith? Ironically many of these comments are keeping the boy right where he is. Happy and content.
