So, you avoid the club for a few months and what happens?

Not only have they added nothing to the site of any worth but have managed to de-value my once-highly-collectable tambourine by putting it in the shop for any old fair-weather fan to buy!

Worse still are the pictures of Hawaii and Australia that are almost entirely pictures of people buying, or those selling, official merchandise!

Words fail me, though no doubt we will be given a gift in the next couple of weeks so we come back for more of the same (absolutely nothing) next year.

So, not having visited for a while, what was the outcome of the Chocolate Invasion. Am I right to assume that enough people complained that hey shouldn't have to buy loads of music they already downloaded that the club pulled it?

If anything interesting has happened recently please let me know,

Regards,

G

yes, it's a shit. There's no music on NPGMC. I can't understand. I mean. I have all the reflection and glam slam songs (before joining the club, using Kazaa). But I'd love to buy an original edition of ONA piano, or Xpectation, and things like that. Even Rave DVD, but THERE'S NO MUSIC.
Suprising.
Prince, come on, offer us something.

I have a strong feeling that there will be no year-end "gift" this year. I think he's taking his whole "time is a trick/suspend xpectations" schtick to heart as an excuse to give club members as little as possible while he's sorting out whatever record deal he's trying to work out (gotta have fresh new material to offer, don'tcha know)...that's the vibe I've been getting, anyway.

How selfish can a person be to complain that an item was made availble to other fans that did not get a chance to buy one? Isnt the best time to get good pictures of concert goers before or after the show when there aren't just a mass of arms and hands in the air? What is it exactly that people like this want from a for-profit organization in our capitalistic society?

I don't think people are whinging.
Remember before NPGMC we had npgonline. There was more information on this site , more mp3's than this year's NPGMC and it was all regularly updated. How much did this cost us? NOTHING! We could buy exclusive merchandise thru the npg store , the discography section was better.
We are getting less and paying for the privilege.

What's the difference between whining and whinging?

I just read a Nick Hornby book where he had a character say "was I whining or whinging?"

This line in the book confused me. I always thought whinging was the English version of whining. Is whinging a combination of whining and singing? Whooping and wringing? Is this another one of those words that has to do with testicles? Is a whinge something that comes out of an arse?

Because, you know, I've been called a whiner in the past, and you know, like, whatever. At least I know where I stand because I know all about whining. I would like to think I bring a level of artistry to whining. I am a fine white whine. I can deal with being called a whiner. It is a badge of great pride.

But when someone says I'm whinging, what does that mean? I don't know. Me American. Me only know whine. How can I whinge if I don't even know what whinging is? Perhaps I am a latent whinger and I am prepared to accept that fact. Maybe I can even perfect my whinging abilities if I am better informed as to what this entails.

Please, somebody clarify. Thank you.

If you happen to be a colector of Prince music and memorbailia it is a bit frustrating. Imagine you owned a copy of the orignal WX147 black album worth thousands only for the club to suddenly discover a batch of 10,000 that didn't get destroyed. You'd be pretty upset I'm sure. This isn't on that scale but I know other collectors have paid £100's for a tambourine (I didn't buy mine) in the past based on it's raritiy.

And please tell me you're joking about the photos. Cynic or not you have to accept that too many rooms on the site is an invitation to part with your money. What I expect from a for-profit organisation is quality, responsibilty and fairness, none of which appear to be important to the club itself.

Finally, I asked if anyone new what had happened to the Chocolate Invasion but as usual everyone wants to talk about the fact I'm a whinger instead, which in fact makes those who post accusations of whinging hypocrites. Do you spend your whole time on this site trying to pick holes in other peoples threads? If you are having a good experience with the club that's great, tell us about it. If you're not, then like me express your feelings openly as you are not allowed to do so at the official site.

Most of all, if you are not a member of the club, f*ck off and keep your opinions to yourself.

I cant believe someone will blame NPGMC for being ripped off on some "collectible". Why should NPGMC even be aware of what items sale for on the black and collectors market? Why should thery forgo profits for items that they have to offer? Why should those of us who dont have it be denied the chance to buy it? Why didnt you get a guarantee of authenicity and rarity when you plunked down too much money for a tamborine or whatever it was?

Like I said, and I'll say yet again, I didn't pay for mine. I caught mine from my position in the third row at Earls Court. Anyway, what good would a certificate of authenticity be? I feel sorry for those who did pay high prices for them, which, as I remember were offered as a strictly limited edition some years ago.
