FYI
Read the members agreement from NPGMC: it grants you NO privacy.
You are not my "friend" because you threaten my security.

If anyone is wondering who moderates over there.
He checked his ping file and it goes
from Chicago to Minneapolis "PaisleyPark9"

Which means probably:
SAM of SamNATION is trying to spy on members computers who he chooses to. My advice is if anyone has any contact with NPGMC you should check to see who has tried to get in to your system.

This all happened because of a disagreement of what was said over something not even a big deal.

BY THE WAY if anyone wants the Log he snapshot the evidence also. He just found it humorous that even the NPGMC breaks the rules dealing with Club interaction.

I can send it. Let me know if anyone wants to see it.

So take it to the cops and have it investigated.

If there is crime occuring under Prince's name it needs to be halted immediately.

No point talking about it in here.

Just take it to the cops or whoever.

Show me the IP addresses of the mods and at what time they were in use and i'll tell you down to a specific cityblock where the traffic originates ... as for the info posted here so far, nothing can be conluded from it (how in the hell do you make the leap from a "ping log" to a username on a web forum?).

well m3taverse i'd love to know who 2003/12/03 18:10:33 205.188.198.4:53 (dns-wj.proxy.aol.com) 172.135.59.9:1331 Port 1331 (UDP) is. this entity is currently hittin my 'puter 4-5 times per SECOND, running every known program on every single port - too fast to keep track of. my inbound events log freezes up for a two second period of time then registers about fifteen hits from this entity. this has been going on for quite some time (over a month and just about whenever i sign on) and although i've reported him/her to hackerwatch i'd dearly love to send a 'fuck you' email to whoever it is... so how do i trace that address specifically?

as i typed this, another twenty two hits registered...

ps: nevermind - i contacted tech help and confirmed that 1) yes, the inbound event log indicates that someone is trying to access *my* computer in particular, i.e. hack into it; and
2) no, unfortunately there isn't a way for me to translate that IP address into an email address so i can send a nasty letter to the fuckwad who has no life and is trying to steal mine.

cool, i'll look into this ... what was it that originally lead you to believe this was coming from npgmc?
Are you on AOL, is your IP address 172.135.59.9? If 172.135.59.9 is not your IP address it's the IP address of the "hacker" (the hacker prolly doesn't even know s/he's attacking you, it's most likely a PC infected by some nasty thing). In any case, if this is not you, mail abuse@aol.com with this IP address and some explenation of what's happening, they'll take that PC down.

well, for one thing i never did claim that NPGMC is the entity attacking my computer. that was Trickology, who started the thread, claiming that the NPGMC was spying on his friend. me, i just hijacked the discussion off on my own tangent big grin

i've already contacted a security technician with the company that manufactured my firewall and have forwarded tdetails from the inbound events log. the tech has determined that the record shows a dedicated attempt to acces my computer, in particular. in other words, not just random sniffing, or harmless 'pings', not just an infected computer somewhere sending out traffic, but someone running a hacker program trying, like i said, every single consecutive port and then after that every known program,. including trojans, virus, etc.

thank you for the email link. i'll make use of it later. i've already turned the suspect IP address into the security company, and into hackerwatch. i'll send it to the aol address too.

too bad i can't identify this person. if i find out who it is i'll bitch-slap the little moron into the next time zone. nod

Mostly, especially on large ISPs like AOL, they aren't attacks, just someone attempting to contact the computer that last had that IP address, eg someone using filesharing software, someone playing an on-line game etc.

Although in this case (XxAxX's) it does sound like too much to be a "nice" ping.

And I love the idea of electro-condoms!

can anyone tell me the following is harmless? if so then theres no issue. However, i had a lengthly discussion with a PP* and was unable to satisfy my questions or worries. I was told he would contact pixius on my bahalf and get back to me -- this never occurred. What did happen is i am banned from NPGMC Chat. I posted to Pixius and the PP* i spoke with to no avail. I would like to know why i was banned but i guess i never will. If you read the agreement when u entered you will know there is no provacy in there. once u are in that room they have your IP address, etc. They could choose to not know our IP addresses but they do. the mod in question said , "i personally dont need your IP address". Why does the club need it?

below are some examples in my firewall, if anyone can explain them to me i would appreciate it. I woulf even consider apologizing to the NPGMC for all the hoopla.

A computer in your Banned IP list at web.npgmusicclub.com has attempted to access TCP port 3905 on your computer.
A computer in your Banned IP list at web.npgmusicclub.com has attempted to access TCP port 3893 on your computer.
A computer in your Banned IP list at web.npgmusicclub.com has attempted to ping your computer.
A computer in your Banned IP list at web.npgmusicclub.com has attempted to ping your computer.
A computer in your Banned IP list at web.npgmusicclub.com has attempted to access TCP port 3893 on your computer.
A computer in your Banned IP list at web.npgmusicclub.com has attempted to ping your computer.
A computer at web.npgmusicclub.com has attempted an unsolicited connection to TCP port 4412 on your computer.

below are some snippets of my chat with PP* from the npg club

PP*: eye will send the message 2 them (pixius) and see if they know what it is
PP*: but no one here at Paisley would be doing anything like that
ME: well i am not pointing fingers but the site (NPGMC) is named
PP*: No one here would be able 2 do any "hacking"
PP*: musicians and artists, no tech-heads in r midst
ME: All u need is an IP address
PP*: as eye said, no one here would even have a mind to try it
PP*: whatever "it" may be
ME: Pixius or npg did tho, wouldnt u agree?
PP*: No
ME: can i ask why you need my IP address?
PP*: things can be faked, rerouted, masked, stolen
PP*: eye personally dont need your IP address
ME: Why does NPG need it then?
PP*: most servers keep a log of what IP addresses access it in a period of time
ME: perhaps but thats all thats needed to invade someones pc
ME: the issue here is someone from your domain tried to access my pc, shall i file a complaint with my ISP{?
PP*: and eye have told u that no one has done that. there is absolutely no reason they would,
ME: u have spoken to everyone or are your assuming no one has tried? i can assure u someone HAS tried
PP*: eye told u that no one here has done anything 2 ur computer and that eye would asked pixius if they knew what happened with your computer
pp*: beyond that there is nothing that i can tell u
ME: I appreciate that.

(banter back and forth)

PP*: thanks 4 chatting
me: ditto
PP*: will let u know what pixius says
ME: OK

I never heard back from PP*. what i did get was a ban from chat with no explanation given (ive asked the mod and pixius, why i cant get into chat, no response, still waiting).

signed,

ME

Banned? Because people can't handle it when their card is pulled.

Is the rumor true about NPGMC being able to surveilance PM's?

Someone told me that a while back.
Not trying to causing Drama, just I find that sick in nature. I just like someone to debunk that rumor if they can

some sites which you have to join up for store cookies on your computer. NPGMC is probably no different. If anything is being scanned on your computer, it's probably checking for cookies. Just like the .org does.

I take it you might be new to firewalls. When you first install one, you will be alarmed at the number of times other sites access your computer. Try just signing on to a service like AOL, for instance. The computer goes nuts. That doesn't mean AOL is trying to hack you.

The time to be worried about hackers is when you are not even on some website/IP address and that address keeps trying to hit you. As someone else mentioned, a lot of times people's computers are hijacked and used to sniff out open ports on other peoples' computers. I'm guessing you were getting those messages when you were in the chatroom on NPGMC or trying to log in to certain areas of the site. It could just be the java chat, because their site is sending data back to yours. Nothing to be worried about.

And like one of the PPs said last week, the NPGMC web address is just a server. None of the mods are actually using that server as their own ISP, so there's definitely no hacking going on.

It's true. I saw the artwork for Prince's new album and there was a picture of me naked in by bedroom on the sleeve. They could only have got that pic by hacking into my computer and taking over my webcam. Now they've e-mailed me saying if I don't renew my membership next year, they'll publish the ones of me 'watching' a Kylie video.

IT'S AN OUTRAGE!

Well, my thought on this is that, the NPGMC needs security and maybe they do security checks.
