NPGMC 2004

OK...2004 is fast approaching and the club are thinking of how to make us all join up again..which got me thinking of a few points worth of discussion...

1. Should we assume the TCI delay (as mentioned by someone else in this forum) was 'convenient' as it means to get it we all have to join up again...?

2. Given that we all know he is doing a world tour in 2004, is it simply wishful thinking that we will get in the club for $25 again? Priority tickets and a 7-CD set surely will be incentive enough to push the price up?

3. If the meet-and-greet lucky 20 were chosen from existing members in the member seats (ie a lucky dip rather than a $1000 price tag), would you be willing to spend, say $150 a year membership for the chance (plus a suitably high number of regular mp3 downloads)? (Ie he makes more, and dangles the meet and greet as a nice carrot to make us cough up)

4. Given that 2004 and the 20th PRain anniversay is Prince's one last shot at recapturing mass market recognition again (the tour/the reissues/the dvd etc etc)...and given that he knows occasional fans will be well serviced by the re-released products, does that mean the price for the club could be hiked for us die-hards - with the promise of regular club-exclusive tracks etc?

Be interested to hear people's views...

If he tours I will be more than happy with the seating available to the general public. I've seen him enough times, including up close.

One thing that's become apparent to me over the years I've been an NPGMC member - they are stupid. "The Chocolate Invasion" should have been called "The Bullshit Invention" because it was never going to happen.

I don't think it will be as cheap next year. This year was cheap because of Prince's fairly limited activity. "NEWS" and the two new songs are all he's released so far, plus a short Australian tour.

Making the club affordable to most might also have been a ploy to attract a whole bunch of new members.

That would work very well. Unfortunately if you offer the NPGMC managers an intelligent and sensible option and the dumbest possible thing they can do, they pick the latter every time.

Not sure it's Prince's last shot at a comeback, but I expect he will put the price back up to $100 in 2004.

Oh, and look forward to more "please send us back all your CDs" bullshit.

Some valid points, yet maybe the NPGMC members will still pay a small fee (ranging from $25-50) and just pay extra for the oppurtunity for front row seats and soundchecks. As he did in previous years.

I'm not in the position to question the business IQ of the mangagement of the NPGMC, but I assume that (like most people/organizations) they learn from their past mistakes...

Yet who's to say...?

Wow, how can anyone STILL bitch about NPGMC when it only costs $25 and did not promise anything that has not happened? Get a life. Go complain about war, racism, and violence - NPGMC and $25 just isnt worth that much punk ass crying.
