I see the URL has the word "market" in there... Perhaps they are going to sell songs (eg. 1 song for $1). A lot of people asked for a re-release of the earlier NPGMC stuff and they got that and a lot of people have been asking for this "market" as well so who knows!

Don't think so. If I remember it right, this has been the directory's name since start.

It's up to the software engineer/web designer how to call it since it's a hidden path. Instead of using an obvious name like 'audiovideo', 'av' or even better, 'mp3' or 'media', they apparently decided for something a non-insider can not guess quite easily. 'market' has a meaning to the programmer but can be hidden.

Unfortunately to any enigeer/designer there are some technically more talented or experienced people like mrdespues (or the one he got it from wink ) who are able to find out. Well, it's the least you can do: get some obstacles in their way.

Btw, to simply find the files after playing them has become more difficult with Netscape 7.1. While the previous version used to store the named (!) files in a plugin-temp directory they now disappear in the user's cache directory. There they get assigned some hex-names.

Anyway, after playing all songs in their entirety you can sort the cache directory by decreasing date. The files on top should be the songs. You can also identify them since they are quite large compared to most other cached files (usually 2,000 - 5,000 kB). Now add an '.mp3' extension and rename them - and voila, there you have your tracks.

But... I guess they are only a few people left using Netscape. sigh

Im just curious about something. Before I start to download these tracks (now remember I have dial-up) are these the same as the versions that were released years ago on the old LP`s? And secondly how do they sound? Is the quality better than CD? And what about the bitrate??? Thanks...
My DC Direct wishlist: 1) Bane, 2) Prof Zoom, 3) Superman Blue, 4) Kilowag, 5) Parasite

Yeah they are the same versions as the 12" versions (not the album versions). The Sexy Dancer 12" and the Let's Work 12" are stupidly rare these days. I almost bought one a while back for AU$135! (luckily I waited and now I got the downloads!). The quality is not CD quality but it's still listenable. I think the rate is 64kbps or 96kpbs (something like that?). Both are 6-7 MBs. With dial-up it should take about 10-20mins to download.
