Black on NPGMC retail

Where are the African American looking models on the clothing section of the NPGMC retail page? Do black people wear these t shirts?

I think it might be a hidden message that Prince wouldnt dare push this tack on his "own people"

Only us white folks are stupid enough to lap it up without question..."dah,ok - an NPGMC top will make my baby sooo cool and will not traumitise it in later life" - can you imagine if all your baby pics had you decked out in Cliff Richard or Kenny Rogers clothes.

Start 'em young!!!

I think these “model” pictures are taken from a generic clothing manufacturer catalogue or something. I always thought that on most of the pictures the NPGMC and other logos have been “Photoshopped” in before the clothing has been manufactured.

Paradoxically, when it came to the avatar choice on the site, quite a few people were bemoaning the fact that there was only 1 or 2 “white” avatars to choose from. So Prince is either accused of consciously alienating white people or accused of consciously alienating black people depending on whether you are choosing an avatar or choosing clothing.

Or maybe he isn’t doing either? Do you see?

I'm pretty sure the pics (and presumably the clothes) are from the american apparel online store. they are a sweatshop-free t-shirt manufacturer who do 'organic cotton' t-shirts and that kinda stuff. The pics are almost exactly the same (save for the npgmc logos!), even down to the 'devour' pic!

i actually posted on u tell us asking whether npgmc sourced their stuff from american apparel, and the post mysteriously disappeared overnight - I even praised them for only adding a few $s to the original 'plain t-shirt' american apparel prices!

go figure...

Good pull! Identical pictures of the dog. So that's where all that stuff is coming from!

I think it's funny that someone freaked out and deleted your post...why not just say, "Yeah...we use this company and we believe that they have a positive world-view?" instead of deleting the post? Heh.

Black people might be concerned about the question. If youre not black or dont care, then you wouldnt be concerned. THose other questions about music have been asked many times.

Some people don't look for black and white in everything. It probably never occured to most people what color skin the models have.

Sorry Ms. Handclap.. but i can squeeze myself into a size two, i prefer a size four. nod

The little boy in the t-shirt definitely is not a W.A.S.P. I wanted to buy a t-shirt for my child(who is black and would be proud to wear it) but they don't have her size... p...
