Im not really writing this as a point of view I currently have...but it is something that has always puzzled me.

Everyone will be familiar with the way some posts go...somebody voices a complaint (some reasonable,some stupid) and then somebody will write back attacking them for being a "naysayer" - why is it (REALLY) that these people find it so hard to accept that people are telling the truth about problems. I refuse to beleive that it is,as many of the claims would be, because they are blinded by Prince and there worship of him.

Let me give you my example (as I have so many times before!!!

1) In Year 1 I didnt receive Rave In2 Special Edition and I wrote and wrote to NPGMC with no joy and teh occasional brush off.(By teh way - anybody still waiting for ONA live??)

2) Year 1 I voice my dissapointment that some downloads were merely lifted from official released cds and re-sold through NPGMC.

3) Year 2 (or was it the end of year 1???) I voiced my concerns that I had not received the link to download Xpectation or the Soundcheck trax.

4) Year 2 - Prince finally tours after a couple of years of promising World tours that never left USA/Canada...I take my oppurtnity to get my NPGMC seat...and tehy cock it up so I end up having to rusgh around getting Ticketmaster Tickets near the back.

5) Year 2 - I voice my concerns taht I was a little miffed (as were the people around me) about Princes comments at the UK gig regarding joining the club and the jibes about "if you want good seat you should have joined the club" or teh comments about only his "friends who joined teh club" get to go to the afterparty etc etc (SEE POINT 4!!!)

6) Year 3...I never got teh Glam Slam password email but apart from that theres nothing else to go wrong this year so far

Now I got called a Naysayer for all of those points and, with, the exception of number 2, I cant possibly see how because they are all straight forward problems (where as 2 is more opinion...but still fact)which,without just saying "its not happening,its not happening you are a liar", you cant deny.

Id be really grateful if somebody could explain it - especially someone who would still consider it Naysaying

I think your grievances are justified (no matter how many times you mayhave brought them up). What, do people think you're lying when you say you still haven't got your Rave In2 dvd ? (oh, ok, Mr. Tation does).

I know what you're saying here - you have a moan and people naysay you, thinking it just can't be so because stuff like that just doesn't happen. Well, it does, and frequently. I am a synical and untrusting person. It pays off. Never trust anyone who looks for money first without seeing the product. If you hand over the money then guess what you get? Ripped Off, that's what.

Methinks there are too many Cleopatra's who can only see Prince and everything to do with him through rose tinted glasses. Brilliant musician and showman he may be, but that does not mean that he can't also be an uncaring capitalist little shit (you think he cares if you ever get your Rave dvd?)

Hopefully, we all know that there are people here on both sides who take it to extremes. For some Prince can do no right for others he can do no wrong. Truth is probably somewhere in the middle, imo. I don't personally have an opinion on whether purpledoveuk is a "naysayer" or not.

However, I have noticed that the "My tickets got messed up last year" complaint has been brought up at least several times. As annoying as that must have been, I can understand that some here might think that at some point that particular complaint get's a bit repetitive.

I agree very much that it is repetative...but you also have to understand that the offer of good seats IS the club this year...without a tour there is nothing else apart from some downloads that you arent really meant to have - but for $25 thats not surprising.

However when you take into consideration that years 1 and 2 were $100, both promising world tours (only one of which actually happened) its a bit disheartening to find that when your chance comes its snatched away from you and you cant really take advantage of what you paid for. That alone is a bummer...combine that with other problems and you start to have something that makes you want to bring up these issues again and again when people are saying that they cant see any wrong

You are right Rave was 3 years ago, the links were 2 years ago, the tickets were 1 year ago and so far theres been nothing at the club to go wrong yet so maybe I should just brush it all under the carpet, pretend it didnt happen...until something does go wrong this year, until the Aussie fans dont get their tickets, until Prince doesnt turn up for the meet & greet...and then it will be just a bunch of moaners again wont it,trying to tarnish the Good Lord/Princes name.

I'd love 2 see some of the peeps on here who are accusing u of whinging about this if they were the ones in your position and hadn't got what they had been promised upon joining.

I think you've earned the right to complain about the club as much as you want.

Thats what I meant at the start of teh post...the last incident was a year ago and, although multiple things have gone wrong previous to that, Im not that bothered now even though I mention it quite a bit.

My point was exactly what Ive seen here - whilst my feelings for being screwed over are still enough to annoy me they have died away slightly but those peopel who,at the time,denied it could ever happen are still as adament and fanatical as ever that Prince/NPGMC/Whoever would never do such a thing.

And to be fair theyve kinda proved my point - nobody came out and said why they find it so hard to believe...they just launched into the old blind-defense mode of name calling.

Anyway - as far as Im concerned I was silly to think taht I might be able to understand this a bit more. I guess its just chalk n cheese, red n blue, jedi n sith...some people see Prince as a PERSON whos great at performing and has banged out some funky tunes in his time and some people have him on a higher level as somebody who is almost their friend and feel that he wouldnt do some of the things some say he is.

I guess its just one of those things

I think the nature of the responses on this thread has proven your point.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I got called all of those names too, yet I was the guy that started a 'Thank You, Prince" thread listing everything I loved about him and his music. I posted my polite, concise inquiries to NPGMC about a number of things - some complimentary, some critical. They always responded IMMEDIATELY to the compimentary ones.

The underlying mantra from many of Prince's few remaining fans was "dont join".

I didn't, and I'm happy but sad at the same time. I WANT to join, but I want to believe in the cause. Until I do, I will not.

I keep asking myself "Why does the simple act of enjoying and purchasing this man's art have to be so MUCH WORK?"

one thing's for certain ... Prince has been very successful in dividing his fans.

Im a little confused as to how I could have been whinging before they shipped the CDs..but I guess that must just be some kind of example you are using there - a figure of speach perhaps?!

However I cant really have been "whinging" about all trhe other points before they happened because how would I have known about them.

Besides Im not here to say "look I didnt get this" - I put those examples up again as some of the things that,apparently,are part of a good service...or so certain peopel would have us beleive. I was just looking to see if somebody could expalin why those were unjustified comments in an attempt to throw some light on teh long running disputes.

What I did find is that,whilst my complaints havent changed, neither have the reponses - so we are quits really. I say it happens you say it doesnt...the world goes on - lets just hope this is the final word.

Enjoy what the club may offer until it goes wrong and,when/if it does, hope that soembody cares enough to listen or do something...and if you dont care join teh self preservation society like Mt Tation over there
