PRINCE: THE BIG BACKLASH

Having sampled full-flavour what The New Power (Same As The Old Power) Generation Muse-Sick Club seem to be up to with their bans and their ticket prices, I would propose that all prince.organists should send a message to info@npgmusicclub.com (or any other address within that domain) expressing something to the effect of the following:

"Seeing that at the NPG, respect seems to be something demanded rather than deserved and that money seems to be tight, we'd like to bunch together to offer, free of charge, an EXTENDED COLONIC IRRIGATION to The 'Artist', his right and left hands and whoever else is imposing this lame fascism upon what will shortly cease to be His (the Most Holy High One's) fam-base."

Others, who have actually been victims of the bullshit, rather than a mere observer, may wish to put it in stronger terms

wink

I think what you are suggesting would merely highlight teh very thing that people realised a long time ago - they really dont give a shit.

You shoudl see the polite and harsh emails I sent when I never received Rave into from year 1...not a whisper of interest from them on the subject and, eventually I got an email that if I recall correctly, practically said I was lying because all the copies had been shipped out.

You have to appreciate that they are so detached from teh fans at teh club that it doesnt matter to them - the bucks roll in from all corners, they know people will pay because,as fans, we have no other alternative/outlets...why would they do anything to slow the cash-flow. Opposer are brushed aside (banned), the Propoganda machine keeps rolling (Satans Claws), we will do as we are told or you will be bannished - sounds hell of a lot like an online dictatorship to me.

Freedom of speach aint an option - the NPGMC is green!!! twocents

I can imagine what you people have suffered.
At first I just thought maybe people were having a bad day..but as I kept on looking it just seemed that even the moderators of the org were pretty pissed off and then I read about the bannings (as in "YOU WILL SHOW RESPECT OR DIE") and from having rekindled my former love of Prince, I'm just left going "What the fcuk is this?"

You know, he can play great guitar and piano and stuff and overdub 120 vocals in ten minutes, but to treat people like this is just extremely BAD NEWS and it's going to be difficult for me to continue the rediscovery of the back-catalogue while I have this image of a pathetic little religious zealot with an irrepressible and frankly preposterous ego.

There's no fun in this shit.
It's fam-fascism pure and simple.

What backlash? That started in 1990 with "Graffiti Bridge", went away, came right back with the "Symbol" album, snowballed with the MynewnameisnowSquiggleskidmark bullshit, and turned into a wrecking ball with the "Crystal Ball" megafuckup.

I'm still here. So are quite a few thousand of us. We love Prince's music and thinks he kicks orca butt on stage - BUT, face it, the guy and his drones are jerks, and, so far all my $25 "donation" to his crummy club has bought me is a board to play "how long before they delete my critical post" on.

That said, you know what? If he releases a great album (as opposed to half-baked crap or another "SNOOZE") and plays a tour as good as the last one, I won't give a shit about the NPGMC fuck-ups ... until the next time.

It's not much of a *club* without members. Actually, it's not much of a club now WITH members either.

If you don't like it, just let it drift away into obscurity and save your time and energy for something more worthwhile.

I want to express regret for my postings yesterday.
I had only rejoined the Prince community and was upset by the stuff I was hearing but I went way too far because nobody really knows whether Prince is responsible for the things that are making people unhappy, ticket prices aside.

There was a similar point of criticism I made after a visit to the NPG shop in London during its brief existence and I went on to make the criticism public in a magazine which Prince read. Although the item had been edited to make it more offensive than my actual words had been (via ommission of context etc), I know for a fact that Prince was personally hurt by this.
It was an error that I had, ultimately, to honour as a hidden intention, if that makes any sense to anyone at all.

I'm a provocative type of person sometimes while being an acutely sensitive one at others. I can give criticism and than can't take it. This is called 'humanity' smile

But it was hypocritical of me to criticise NPGMC for the lack of respect shown (because of their feeling that a lack of respect is shown) and then to top that with a massive lack of respect!

I do respect Prince..immensely. Like others, I hope that what he's doing now makes him happy. If it doesn't then I hope he finds a new muse, a new approach which will.

I called him a 'religious zealot'. Which is just as uncool as it comes. I'm sorry for that. I shouldn't have had those coffees earlier but that's no excuse.
I'm retracting, apologising because it's not how I wish to represent myself ultimately.

Whatever he wants to believe in that helps him with whatever he goes through is fine with me.
As in "Whatever gets u through the night, it's alright...it's alright."

So I especially regret what amounted to a personal attack on him at the end of the posting I made.
And on the subject of the NPGMC, I guess it's fair to balance all criticism with the fact that this forum makes the criticism available for anyone, including the NPGMC, who wishes to take account of it.

Once again, to anyone who felt personally affronted by my postings yesterday, I apologise.
