What a fucking joke!!

You dont even get the soundcheck with the diamond ticket. You have to pay over $200 to see the soundcheck and get the ONA live pack that each and everyone of us already own.

Royally screwed right up the arse by Prince himself!

in my anger I left the password on edit

this is what i posted on NPGMC but since it will surely be deleted in a moment i wanted you guys to see it.

i'm so over this man.

here it is:

i have always, deep down inside, thought that prince was different. i thought that it wasn't really about money with him. obviously to a degree, but not in general. i thought it was something deeper. i thought prince had something to say about God.

i really feel let down.

the tickets prices for aussies are ludicrous. the fact that he's using clear channel bothered me just a little, but this is overwhelming. $675.00 per ticket for the opportunity to meet prince. that is the greediest thing i've ever heard of him doing.

what would jesus do? as cliche, or corny, as that sounds...it's important for prince to remember. he claims to be a witness for God. i just don't see this as fact when he takes full advantage of a large group of people who see him as a personal icon.

i don't know what else to say. i'm just so disappointed with him. delete this if you will, but it won't change the fact that i feel this way. it will only help perpetuate the delusions that prince apparently has already.

How do u stay true to the love of the music when something like this comes along???

I don't want to be on the stage! I don't want a 2nd copy of something I already paid US$100 for last year, i just want good seats and the same member options that the US and European fans had last year - is this too much to ask?

Why Australia of all places do NPGMC members suddenly get a chance to go on stage and get ripped off?

If money is no problem then great - I hope there are some fans that can afford these options...but the rest of us are screwed. How am I gonna have fun at the show now? I feel this will lessen my enjoyment no matter where I sit...If i'm on stage i fell ripped off, if i'm in the front 5 rows I feel ripped off, If I'm in the cheap seats I still feel ripped off.

Damn this is stuffed...

Anxiety

The only possible explanation I can think of for this pricing is that the VIP tickets are geared toward the kind of people who would usually get these kinds of priviledges for free otherwise - industry weasels, A&R, blah blah blah. These people can AFFORD thousand dollar tix, yet they continually get in for free. Maybe this is Prince's way of giving these folks their precious VIP access...for a price...and also giving fans who REALLY want this experience an opportunity to not only hobnob with the Purple One, but get an upfront look at the industry bigwigs in all their glory.

But then again, we're talking about Australia. I ask this in all honesty, and not in any way to diss on the land down under, but...how much industry could be expected at a show like this in Australia?

Hey, I'm trying to play devil's advocate here. Cut me an ounce of slack.

If Prince were working independently of Clear Channel and charging these prices, it would still be outlandish but at least it could send the message, "this is the reality of working outside the evil CC empire" (though to what end would this message be useful?).

But he's not.

And why is Prince offering ONA Live boxsets as part of these packages, when a great majority of the folks ordering Aussie show tix from NPGMC were probably members last year, and already OWN the box, which can also easily be bought at a store or online. This is just a desperate attempt to pad the deal, so as to make the offer look like more of a value by tossing in relatively expendable inventory. Cheesy.

I'm going to wait a few days and check out some of the other arguments, complaints, defenses and fairy tales offered by folks on here and on the NPGMC before I fly into the latest righteous indignation temper tantrum Prince has thrown our way.

I do believe this, however: considering how long people have been waiting for the man to play in Australia, he really needs to consider an AFFORDABLE event for his fans down under. They deserve better.

Just my thoughts upon first impression...

Another thing...everything ticket wise is being done through the promoter and Ticketek (029266xxx is the Tiketek prefix).

The very fact that no transactions are going through NPGMC.COM sucks - both Prince AND Paul Dainty are responsible for this...

Oh, there's plenty to fill up the front rows. They're all very important people who don't realise that they're big wigs in "the middle of nowhere" (to be polite).

the thing is that only npg members can buy these tickets.

how sad. how unfair, after 11 years for godsake!
what happened to 'real music for real music lovers'
should be changed to 'real music from someone who is willing to ask people to pay $400 to see it for the people who can pay $400 to it'.

and the sadder thing is i will pay that $400...

I WISH YOU WOULD. lol

Some of yall who can get into the soundcheck should form some kind of respectful act of demonstration, good-natured but direct - maybe t-shirts with big purple dollar signs on the front and "HOWZ DAT MURPH DRAG COMIN', KID?" on the back.

They were US$100-$150 per show for front row seats, soundcheck and laminate.

You're about to lose it then...

I paid roughly $120 CAD to see him in Calgary, Canada. And what did I get for that?

1. I got the "souvenir VIP laminate"
2. Access to the soundcheck
3. An informal meet and greet. We were all too much in awe to say anything though.
4. My seat was the front row of the orchestra pit. As far away as you are from your monitor, that's how far away I often was from him. He occassionally walked behind us to play for the audience sitting in the real seats. When I walked to my seat I almost tripped over and knocked over his Hohner, his cloud, and his symbol guitars, and his bass.

There was no aftershow in my city, but there were in many other cities, and members got VIP access to those as well.

So, now you can lose it.
