To hardcore fans

If you would work for Prince @ Paisley Park and disagree with him about something (the NPGMC, the DVD, jw preaching, well jw in general hehe ..) would you open up your mouth about it and consequently risk to lose your job?
Don't you think that someone has to do the dirty job now? smile
Anyways would you work for your musical hero?

No.

I have too much self respect than to work for someone who would require me to lick his boots in order to collect a paycheck.

I think even if you worked for Prince and DID lick his boots, you'd still end up getting fired. I don't think it is humanly possible to please him for an extended period of time. lol

ya, I always share my opinions with others. if somebody can share their beliefs or lifestyle openly with me, than I feel I have equal time to share my own thoughts. With anyone...boss, co-workers, people in line at the supermarket.

PEACE N B WiLD!!!

Let's put Paisley Park aside. When you are hired to work for any person, company, governmental job - it is important to know the purpose for which you are hired and your employer's / supervisor's philosophy - even if you are a free agent working on contract.

If you are hired for a specific purpose then you'd better be cognizant of that purpose and able to deliver. If your employer is open to input and solicits it - then all is well if you are interested in sharing your thoughts. If your employer did not ask for your opinion - then you move forward at your risk. However, I don't think that it is ever appropriate to approach any employer about their personal life choices / philosophies. It needs to be about the work.

Some companies encourage input from the bottom up. Some don't. It's important to know the company's philosophy. Then you can determine whether you can live with it or not.

One time I worked for a person and together we were responsible for training other employees. The employer took great pride in making his training so confusing and complex that very few participants could ever pass the exit test. The test was not for the purpose of weeding people out - rather it was to help people perform their jobs better. He saw it as a way to assert his superior knowledge as opposed to empowering workers with the knowledge they needed to perform their jobs better. This would have reflected positively on him - however he had needs and one of them was to be the expert rather than help others understand. Aside from this issue however, he was a very very nice, caring person and easy going in the workplace - so all was not bad.

To make a long story short - we live and learn. I made some suggestions (particularly because it was directly relevant to the job for which I was responsible). He was unable to let go of his training method. So since he was the Boss - his way continued. Eventually he moved on and so did I.

I make this point to say - that you have to understand the terms of the employment or seek other opportunities if the terms don't set well with you regardless of who you work for.

I think Prince would hire only hardcore FAMS that never open their mouth unless prince says so. smile

But if I would be his lawyer, then hell yes... I would smack him with my lawbooks for running such a shady business. edit: Strictly about work tho', I wouldn't talk about his personal beliefs, unless he asks for it.

About anything related with my job I would state my opinion. If someone doesn't like my opinion s/he should not hire me. Very simple.

As for religion: none of my business, not even when I work for you. Unless I am asked, it will not even be discussed.

Would I want to work for Prince? No, I think we are totally incompatible...

I think I would be close enough 2 prince 2 be able 2 tell him my honest thoughts... However, it would be up 2 him as 2 whether he wanted to hear my opinions & I'd have 2 honour & respect that. I imagine one would risk his/her employment 4 prince if they just came out and said their peice about things without prince asking 4 it, or asking him if he wanted 2 hear their opinion/advice on a certain matter/issue. As with ANY employer, but especially with PRINCE, ( as we know what a perfectionist he is, as well as being rather difficult 2 work 4 ) one has 2 know when the time is "right" 2 present themselves & their opinions/advice. To know this, it would take some time being employed, to "observe" situations in "silence" 2 get the "feel" of ones boss, & his moods & when he is most approachable. And YES, I certainly would be very honoured 2 work for/with prince.
May the BELLS ring 4 U even when ur not in love. hug kisses

well, since you ask, here goes: if i worked for paisley park i would engage prince in religious discussions and encourage bible studies. i would like open him up to the truth, to save prince from the counterfeit gospel being spread by jehovah's witnesses. prince should see that jehovah's witnesses have no connection to the gospel of jesus christ, tradition, or history. they are deluded by a false truth of their own making and he is being sucked in.
i'd risk my job for his sanity and salvation, but mostly for the glory of the one true god.

...well, fms', doesnt "scare" me but its obvious (they) feel strongly about PRINCE' choice of faith, but if it was me, i would leave bible discusions out of the picture as much as possible, thats the one thing i "dislike" about people having bible discussions AT WORK, its the wrong time fur it (im like, lets get stuff done her') and i think he'd drop it, an NOT freak out, and just respect my work values...

sometimes voicing an opinion about the best way to do the job is part of the job. sometimes it isn't.
each employer is different.

i don't think i could work at the park right now. in the past, maybe
