Should I join the NPG Music Club if I live in the UK

I live in the UK and I am very interested in joining the NPG music club. I have a few questions and hope some1 can answer them 4 me:

Q) Does the music club send out CDs/DVDs etc or do u have 2 download songs/videos etc from the site?

Q) As I live in the UK how long would i have 2 wait 4 them 2 b delievered?

Q) Do u get any additional benefits 4 joining - eg better seats @ concerts etc.

Q) How much is it 2 join?

Q) As i live in the UK & cannot attend most concerts is it really worth joining?

It streams songs and videos on the site this year. To date during the 2003 offering there has only been one new song, 'Reflection', streamed (no longer streaming.) A video of 'Jam Of The Year' (live performance from Brixton, 1998) was originally streamed, and this material was 'new'. 'New'/previously unreleased video material currently streaming includes 'I Like It There' from 'Chaos and Disorder'. On a 56k modem, this can take a considerable amount of time, even at the LO stream version offered for the videos. It is possible to save the stream as a download, although the material is not offered explicitly in this way to members.

The CDs and DVDs currently 'offered' are available for purchase (in addition to membership subscription of $25) through the NPGMC website. Some items are sometimes offered to members in advance of being made available through usual retail outlets. There is no guarantee that anything made available will be 'exclusive' to members.

Delivery can take a few weeks on average, in my experience.
Q) Do u get any additional benefits 4 joining - eg better seats @ concerts etc.
There is this possibility, but there is no gurantee that Prince will play any concerts this year in the UK.

Other items in the retail area are only available currently to members as far as I am aware (e.g. clothing, guitars).
Q) How much is it 2 join?
$25 lasting until the end of this year.

Full terms are provided before you sign up and pay your money over, so I suggest you go to the website and read in full before you pay / decide whether to pay.
Q) As i live in the UK & cannot attend most concerts is it really worth joining?
That's really only a judgement you can make. I've joined each year and personally I have received my money's worth for each subscription year so far. For me, $25 is not very much money, and I've joined as a UK resident with no expectation of seeing Prince perform live in concert during 2003. As with each year to date, I'll decide whether I've received value for 2003 when my membership closes at the end of the year.

If $25 isn't a lot to you, I'd join (well, I have!!). The previous response is pretty thorough, but you can also fill in any gaps in your collection - Rave In2 (the remixed Un2), 5x CD Crystal Ball, Days Of Wild single etc. None of this is available anywhere else (well, except the Ebay profiteers maybe). And if NPG clothes are your thing, you couldn't be better served!!

I don't expect a tour (in the UK at least, possibly a wee US tour?) (and if one is announced you can always join just before), but it's kind of cool getting the videos. If you've not seen the extended Thieves in The Temple then I'd join up today!!

Andrew. If I were you, I'd keep the money.

I'll guess, as you are only thinking about joining now, you are a casual or growing interest Prince fan.

If that is the case, I think you should ignore the club and the bullshit on-line, and simply buy the music in a shop and enjoy it.

This year, the club gives you one streamed new song, a few videos (most of which are not new or released) and some very overpriced clothing.

The CD and DVD are available much cheaper in the UK. Not only will you save your money, but you'll save your sanity too.

A tour is VERY unlikely. So for 2003, you'll be paying for the privilage of being offered overpriced goods that "may" be delivered sometimes soon.

Get to Play.com or Amazon for the DVD and CD, then get yourself on Kazaa for any extras you might fancy.

In fact, you might want to get everything from Kazaa, as the CD and DVD have not recieved great reviews, even from the "hardcore" fan base.

Even if you don't join the club, get the DVD.
