No More NPGMC

I like alot of you on here, and people I've met in person simply out of our mutual interest in Prince's music.

But I feel like a complete goof for joining his "clubs" and supporting a musician who has spent more and more time these days being a neurotic asshole.

Even skimming over the remaining cornball posts over at NPGMC, Helen Keller could figure out that something aint right.

It's sorta silly seeing "Prince" .org anymore, because that's not even why I come here.

Anxiety

I think it's all about wading through the garnish and getting to the meat. I'm enjoying the DVD, I think NEWS is allright (not the best P album by a longshot, but also not painful to get through), I had a blast at the DVD screening last week, and I'm looking forward to seeing the Chicago folks I've gotten to know through NPGMC and the Org at the monthly NPGMC night at Berlin this Sunday.

Does this mean I have to purchase a purple Xenophobia drool cup and join the mewling masses in the U Tell Us boards in the ongoing and unwavering sycophancy? Not at all. I can still roll my eyes at the silliness and enjoy the coolness.

I look at NPGMC as more of a retail/SWAG resource - every now and then they offer something cool - I'm LOVING the fact that I finally have "Rave In2" and I'm liking it far more than I thought I would - but in terms of offering a free marketplace of thoughts and ideas and tomfoolery, there's no place like the Org.

I was just saying the same thing, about only marginally visiting this site because of Prince.

The posts at the club make me embarrassed that I joined this year. The "official" posts from the blah-derators are even more of an insult to my memory of what it used to feel like to be a Prince fan.

Tom, you've brought as much to the table here as anyone, and I'd like to thank you for that.

Well, at least the instrumental stuff that has surfaced over the past year is free of odd messages and religious overtone, if that's what has bothered some people. There is some solace in XPectation, the CNOTE tracks and NEWS. Amen for that. I am happy as an NPGMC member who, for one, hasn't been in the chatroom once (can't do it in Mac OS X) and never visit the message boards there. I visit the site when there's new stuff to buy or download and that's it.

Peace -

What I love about this site, is that I can visit it, and I am mainly interested in the politics and religion stuff. However, it keeps me updated on Prince and his music, and is also a great place for me to ask questions if I have any. It's like an all-in-one chat site with frequent prince updates! perfect!

The NPGMC is crap this year, and club members are split between the saints (Blueangel) and the wankers (not naming names, but there are enough sheep over there to keep the world in wool for a decade).

Prince, however, is being his usual eccentric self. What is more eccentric? Him asking you to send him his records back or turning himself into a symbol? Nothing new. Ditto the screw-up with "NEWS" to quite a few European fans. Is it a coincidence they're selling "Crystal Ball" again? Probably. Those jerks don't have a sense of humour.

Keep buying the records, keep going to the shows, keep coming to the Org. Fuck the NPGMC.

AND what about the dvd??

It's his most recent release, and has NO RELIGIOUS MUMBOJUMBO AT ALL on it!

there is no larry singing 'the christ', no monologues, no overtly religious tracks... it's just prince being funny and a band being funky ALL THE WAY.

His being a JW is now a matter for himself, but I somehow hope that with TRC he's gotten it all out of his system and won't bother us with it again.

I'm glad to hear him singing Gotta Broken Heart Again, The Ride, Family Name, Pop Life,

and not: The Christ, Higher, etc

Ok, maybe The Everlasting Now is the only exception, but it is funky enough, so I don't mind! lol

Some of you might see me as one of those "sheep", but I cant help but keep in mind the original reason we are here - one man's music. And I'm sure that most people that haunt here DO enjoy Prince's music to some degree, if it is only from a musician's pont of view... It is dificult not to acknlowedge the gift of music...

I personally love the DVD (certainly when you consider cost vs. quality), but I was considering 1+1+1=3 and Everlasting Now as part of the group of songs with lyrics that have put some people off in the last couple years. No problems here, though...that disc is 80 minutes of Prince doing the best James Brown impression on earth.

Actually, RedZRyder (I think that's her org name?) does a far better James Brown impersonation than Prince does. I dig Prince's live shows from the last couple of years, but you can't exactly call it an homage to James when he's afraid to so much as bob his head.
