yeah, it's the same. I'm in it for the music, everything else is just a novelty. Some people take it too seriously.

I hear ya. I stopped posting there a week or two ago, because they're constantly deleting perfectly fine threads. It's absurd.

Look at it this way, if somethin new is announced, someone whos a member of npgmc will post it here. And if it's announce outside of the club, someone will post it here as well. So the org is a win win.

They'll probably find some box with a couple of them cd's somewhere, just like they had with that "Beautiful Strange" PAL VHS recently...
BTW for how much did they initially sell the CD at 1-800 New Funk?
I bought it in Detroit at some fucked up Prince-convention for $20...

I haven't signed on there for months - waiting until there is some new music. I think the last time I signed on was to order NEWS. I didn't even bother for the DVD since it was at the local stores.

The only place they even have music is the reflection room, and I already have everything they've had there.

I still haven't quite figured out the point of the "music club" this year. Did we really pay $25 for 1 song (reflection)?

If you think its about the music anymore, you have been sadly mistaken-SDLDAWN-

Let's see

year 1

at least 18 new songs to download and NPG Audio

Year 2

The Rainbow Children (end of year 1 I think)
One Night Alone
One Night Alone live
Xpectation
Tokyo
Coppenhagen
Tour with front row passes
Sound check for those fortunate enough to attend (and at that sound check an opportunity to ask the man himself about "the music")

Year 3

Reflection Pool(oldies but goodies)
Remembrance
N.E.W.S
ONA DVD
Free viewing of dvd (with surprise after show in LA
Conclusion
ITS STILL ABOUT THE MUSIC -get a new slogan.

Reflection Pool(oldies but goodies) - they've yet to put anything by Prince on there that I don't have on CD already.
Remembrance - do you mean Reflection?
N.E.W.S. - don't have to be a club member to get this
DVD - didn't even bother ordering from the club - is cheaper to by at best buy (no shipping)
Free viewing of dvd - only in a few cities

so for $25, we get one whole new song? What's the point of the club again?

The club was not made FOR you, but WITH you in mind. Just because you did not accept the music in the reflection pool does not negate that it was offered. My point is, when you look at the clubs three years in its unabridged form, you can't help but appreciate being part of the fam. Understand a family is not perfect, and some adjustments maybe needed. Unfortunately, the constant bickering, complaints, whinning, and degradation of its contents, merits, and author will lead to its ultimate demise at the hands of those who it seeks to serve.

Stop drinking the purple kool aid. The club is not a "family". They only say that to have peeps like you throwing in their cash. The ultimate demise of this "family" will not come from "constant bickering, complaints, whinning, and degradation of its contents", but from constant terrible business practices.

The club was definately not made with me in mind and if that is what's considered a family, I'd gladly be an orphan.

It's a shoddy business with obnoxious employees who have no concept of customer service, and no organizational skills, run by a once pioneering artist who's succesfully transformed himself into a complete flake.

People hardly even discuss a majority of the songs he's released over the past 5 or so years because so much of it is sub par and forgettable.

Thousands of fans don't spend decades listening to Prince, and supporting his music, then suddenly shift their views and start complaining over nothing. If any demise occurs, he brought it all on himself.

WHAT? didn't accept the music? I already have every single Prince track they put there. The club is for the hard core fans and most hard core fans already have all of this stuff. How hard would it be to mix in a few unreleased tracks from the vault, demos of new stuff, anything new at all?

What would you call someone who you invite into your home, Paisley Park, for a visit, show him/her the lay of the land, sit and talk philosophy with, through parties in that home just for them to enjoy, allow them cart blanc access to your shows and as a gesture of appreciation, invite to sound checks, guarantee their access to after shows, and take time during that show to chat, sing with, joke with, in some cases jam with, then during the show dance with!

Prince truly has tried to put us first in ways in which most artist don't even think about, hell he even has tried to save a few souls along the way. That's what family does, artist could care less about the well being of a fan.

Dude, if u think I didnt have $25 bux to spend on a club on an artist I care for.. What a rediculous comment u just posted.

I above anyone who doesnt join have the God given right to say whatever the fuck I want about that club, regardless of if its positive or negative. because I pay, and I go through experience of it. And there is no reason for me not to. Sometimes I got good things to say, sometimes I dont.. and thats what u get when u click on a post here, u get opinions.. I think that 2001 is better than these other 2, why? Because I've been and currently goin through it.. Im not reading it and goin on Kazaa and getting the scraps like a bunch of the fuckin moochers around here. If I didnt have the money to spend on it, I wouldnt, but I do.. so get ready next year, cause I'll join and let u know if I like it or not..

And your stupid signature should be updated, for the most part, its not about expecting, I think we know what he's capable of.. Realize, we do like the music, we just dont care for the service sometimes, but for the most part, I dont mind payin prince for the real deal to stop me searchin elsewhere.. But I also dont mind bitching about it when he messes up... All in all, its not that big of a deal.. Its just a prince site/prince music.

wink

If he does all that by charging hundreds of dollars I wouldn't call it "family". Do you charge your family hundreds of dollars to come over to your house? What kind of fucked up family is that? The man is very, very rich and doesn't exactly need to be paid that much to act as a "friend". get real.

The ones who are truly fanatical -- persons filled with excessive and often MISGUIDED enthusiasm for something-- are the "fams", like you, because you are so blissfully ignorant in believing Prince thinks of you as a friend or.. goshhh... "family". The man doesn'teven know you.

Conclusion: when it coems to the club you have lost all sense of reality and can't see the shady business practices screwing over thousands and thousand of ... sigh... "musiclovers" time and time again.
You are not my "friend" because you threaten my security.

You're talking about last year while everyone else is talking about this year - this year Prince has let his "Fams" buy one song for $25. Other than a couple of previews and old stuff we mostly all have already, that's it from the Music Club.

Why do you think it's wrong to expect some music when you join a Music Club. It's not the Prince Fam Club, it's a Music Club. With thousands of songs in his vault, how hard would it be to give us something new every now and then? It wouldn't take much. At $25, I'd be happy with a song a month or so.

I don't know how much history is on this site, but if you go back here and on the alt.prince newsgroup, I was one who defended the club in Year 1 - it was pretty much what it should have been then, just needed a little tweaking.
