Final straw, maybe time to demand a refund?

The following was deleted from a 'U Tell Us' thread regarding opinion of the new DVD:

We requested from the beginning that this thread be about the musical per4mances only.

My response
That is a ridiculous request. That would suggest that the club is fully aware that the DVD is sub-standard. The performance itself is great, but the visual, and to a degree audio, quality of the DVD do the performance no justice. If you are releasing a product purely for the musical performance then why release it on DVD?

The editing is poor on this DVD, the stills that separate each song serve only to remind you that the footage has been cut enormously.

It is also worth pointing out that I will continue to support the club and purchase products when they become available, but the cost is becoming an issue for me living outside the States. I may resort to waiting for the same titles to become available in my local stores and avoid paying the delivery charge, especially as my last few purchases have become available within a week of ordering.

The opinions expressed in this post are mine and reflect my hope that freedom of speech is not dead.

As far as I can see this in no way goes against there f**king stupid 'you well tell us what we want to here' rules but somehow they deleted it anyway. I have asked the moderators to explain why and will post any response received, though I obvioulsy don't expect one.

I am seriously considering asking for a refund. Has anyone already been down this road, and if so with what result?

Just trying to get an insight, that's all. If my threads keep being deleted I have no option but to ask. It will be dificult to persue from the UK so hoped someone else may already have information. Is that asking too much?

It's an interesting question, though...can you make a "donation" to a for-profit organization? And if they state a fixed price for this "donation" in exchange for products and services that you could not otherwise obtain, what are their liabilities? And if by calling that $25 a "donation" the NPGMC is indeed accepting the guise of a non-profit, where's the money going? I don't necessarily think anything fishy is going on, it just seems like a very...unusual...set-up.

They're just using the word "donation" because it sounds better than "fee". They want to make it appear as if they aren't doing it for the money.
That organization is just crazy.

Don't join next year. Trouble is, it'll be worth it then. He'll be touring.

I say give it a try if you are dissatisfied with the club. The worse they can do is not respond. They are not legally bound to give you a refund, whether it is stated as a "donation" or "fee". But by requesting the refund, you will be sending a message of dissatisfaction.

I agree with Wyld1. You can ask if you want, but it's not exactly a secret that the forum is moderated so I wouldn't expect a refund if I were you.

By the way, there are more than a few posts in that thread complaining about the quality of the video and the length of the dvd that have not been deleted.

I would guess that the tone of your response, "That is a ridiculous request..my hope that freedom of speech is not dead..." is what got you deleted. Not saying that I agree with it, just saying that's what seems to be the major difference between your post and those that have stayed.

I keep having the same problem with NPGMC message board. So far, they have constantly and quickly deleted all my threads, all of which have dealt with fairly innoculous stuff like recruiting for Nazi societies, crack dealing and whoring out my own parents. For some reason, all these posts are being deleted by this politicaly correct wet liberals who probably think that illegalising sex before marriage would be a heavy handed measure. If they don't like the country, why don't they all get out of the USA and live in Wales?

I sent the follwing e-mail on the 28th. As yet it hasn't been read but they probably have huge amounts of mail. A previous question to PaisleyPark 9 has been ignored, hopefully this time I'll get a response:

I would be grateful if you could send me an honest reply to a fair question. Why is is that a response I posted expressing my opinion of the new DVD was deleted when the content could not be considered as combative, didn't include foul language and was not an attempt to divide the club? Indeed how can an opinion divide? You either choose to express it or keep it to yourself, but either way that opinion still exists.

Censorship is an ugly world, but when members comments and threads are being deleted as they do not suit the purposes of the club, that is what you are doing, and judging by the comments of many members who use alternative web-sites a massive division is being created by you, the club. Do you accept that this is the reality of what many fans are experiencing?

I have been a Prince fan for 15 years now. Not as long as some, and maybe longer than others, but in all that time I have done everything to support his career. I will continue to do so, but it would be sad if the very club set up to promote him and his music drove some fans away.

If my opinions are not unconditionally welcome, please let me know and I will not visit the forums again. Either way, I would like some form of response so I know where I stand. I am frustrated that a similar question to PP9 seems to have gone unanswered and hope you find time to evaluate these comments.

Kind Regards,

I'll let you know the outcome, either way!
